About the Role:

We are seeking an accomplished commercial leader to head the Crude Marketing function for a leading upstream hydrocarbon business in Nigeria. The role will be responsible for developing and executing global crude oil marketing, trading, and commercialization strategies to maximize revenue realization, market diversification, profitability, and long-term value creation.

The incumbent will lead international crude sales, customer relationship management, commercial negotiations, market intelligence, cargo operations, and commercial governance while building a high-performing crude marketing and trading organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Crude Marketing & Commercial Leadership:

- Lead the overall crude oil marketing, trading, and commercial strategy for the organization's upstream hydrocarbon business.

- Develop and execute integrated crude monetization strategies aligned with corporate growth, production, and revenue objectives.

- Drive crude sales realization, market diversification, profitability enhancement, and long-term commercial value creation.

- Develop differentiated market positioning and customer engagement strategies across international crude markets.

- Lead annual business planning, crude sales forecasting, budgeting, and revenue realization strategies.

Global Crude Sales, Trading & Customer Management:

- Establish and strengthen strategic relationships with international refiners, national oil companies, commodity traders, and key energy buyers.

- Lead crude sales negotiations, term contracts, spot cargo transactions, supply agreements, and commercial settlements.

- Optimize crude pricing strategy through effective benchmarking against Brent, WTI, Bonny Light, and other international pricing markers.

- Develop commercially competitive crude placement strategies considering crude quality, refinery configuration, logistics, and freight economics.

- Identify new export markets, strategic buyers, and value-enhancing commercial opportunities.

- Drive customer retention, commercial sustainability, and long-term strategic partnerships across global markets.

Market Intelligence & Commercial Optimization:

- Monitor and analyze global crude oil market trends, geopolitical developments, refinery demand patterns, freight economics, and supply-demand dynamics.

- Develop and implement market intelligence frameworks to strengthen forecasting, competitor benchmarking, and strategic decision-making.

- Drive portfolio optimization, commercial efficiency, and margin enhancement initiatives.

- Evaluate commercial opportunities related to crude evacuation, blending, storage, transportation, and export optimization.

- Support strategic decision-making through commercial analytics, market insights, and risk assessment.

Cargo Operations, Supply Coordination & Trade Governance:

- Ensure efficient coordination of cargo nomination, scheduling, lifting operations, vessel management, export documentation, and trade compliance.

- Collaborate with production, reservoir, operations, finance, legal, and supply chain teams to align production availability with commercial commitments.

- Drive effective coordination with regulators, NNPC, JV partners, shipping companies, terminal operators, and trading counterparties.

- Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, export compliance standards, contractual obligations, and corporate governance requirements.

- Strengthen commercial governance, exposure management, sanctions compliance, and risk control mechanisms across crude marketing operations.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

- Build and lead a high-performing crude marketing and trading organization focused on commercial excellence and business growth.

- Drive capability building, succession planning, leadership development, and performance management within the function.

- Represent the organization in strategic industry forums, commercial negotiations, and high-level external engagements.

- Foster strong collaboration across internal business units and external stakeholders to support enterprise-wide commercial objectives.

- Drive a performance-oriented culture focused on accountability, agility, customer value, and operational excellence.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.

- MBA / PGDM in Marketing, International Business, Energy Management, Finance, Strategy, or related disciplines preferred.

Experience:

- 20+ years of experience in crude oil marketing, hydrocarbon trading, upstream commercial operations, international energy markets, or related oil & gas commercial functions.

- Extensive leadership experience in crude marketing, oil trading, or upstream commercial operations within reputed oil & gas organizations.

- Proven expertise in international crude sales, commercial negotiations, and strategic customer management.

- Strong exposure to global crude export markets, pricing mechanisms, and trading environments.

- Experience managing large-scale cargo transactions, commercial operations, and export value chains.

- Africa and international hydrocarbon market exposure will be an added advantage.

Local Allowance:

Monthly personal allowance of 65,000 provided over and above the salary package.

Laptop, mobile handset, SIM card, and monthly recharge provided as per company policy and grade.

Working Terms:

Employment Structure:

As per Nigerian labor regulations, appointment letters will be issued under the group entity where expatriate visa quota is available.

Leave Rotation Policy:

- Lagos Posting: 6 Months ON / 21 Days OFF

- Plant/Site Posting: 6 Months ON / 30 Days OFF

The company provides international and domestic air tickets to the employee's nearest airport during approved leave rotations.

Working Hours:

- Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

- Saturday: 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM

- Sunday: 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Salary Processing:

Salary processing and payout operate on a two-month deferment cycle.

For example:

- July salary will be paid in September

- August salary will be paid in October

- September salary will be paid in November

Accordingly, salary credits commence from the third month of employment and continue monthly thereafter.
