Role Overview :
As the Contracts and Procurement Manager for EPC Contracts, you will lead the end-to-end commercial and procurement lifecycle for large-scale infrastructure projects in Nigeria. You will act as the primary interface between project stakeholders, international vendors, and internal engineering teams to ensure that all contractual obligations are met with precision.
Your daily responsibilities involve navigating complex regulatory environments, managing high-value supply chains, and mitigating commercial risks to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. This role is pivotal in safeguarding the companys financial interests while fostering long-term partnerships with global suppliers and local contractors.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead the end-to-end tendering and bidding process for major EPC projects to ensure competitive pricing and alignment with technical specifications.
- Negotiate complex commercial terms and service level agreements with international and local vendors to optimize cost efficiency and risk mitigation.
- Oversee the administration of contracts throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring strict compliance with legal frameworks and internal company policies.
- Implement robust cost control mechanisms to monitor project expenditure, identify variances, and execute corrective actions to protect profit margins.
- Manage cross-functional relationships with project directors, engineering leads, and legal teams to resolve contractual disputes and claims effectively.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that ensure the timely delivery of critical equipment and materials in challenging logistical environments.
- Mentor local procurement teams to build internal capacity and ensure adherence to global best practices in contract management.
Required Skillset :
- Demonstrated expertise in managing high-value EPC contracts within the oil and gas or heavy infrastructure sectors, with a proven track record of handling projects valued at over $500M.
- Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and multi-cultural work environments.
- Deep understanding of international contract law, FIDIC standards, and local Nigerian regulatory requirements regarding procurement and local content.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate technical project requirements into clear, enforceable contractual terms.
- Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and manage vendor relationships across multiple time zones.
- A degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Law, complemented by professional certifications in contract management or project management.
- High level of adaptability and resilience, with the ability to thrive in an on-site, fast-paced project environment in Nigeria.
Experience :
- 15 - 25 years of relevant experience in EPC project management and contract administration.
