Associate Director - EHS (PepsiCo India)
Location : Gurugram, India

Role Purpose :
- This role is responsible for leading the Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) agenda for PepsiCo India, ensuring alignment with global EHS standards, regulatory compliance, and best-in-class safety practices.
- The incumbent will drive risk-based EHS management, embed a proactive safety culture, and lead enterprise-wide transformation initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites.
Role Overview :
- Lead end-to-end EHS governance and strategy across India operations
- Drive plant safety transformation and cultural change initiatives (~90% manufacturing focus)
-Act as the EHS Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the India Region
- Partner with Global Supply Chain and India Leadership teams
- Ensure alignment with Global EHS Management Systems (GEHSMS)
- Influence and enable site leadership teams to achieve EHS excellence benchmarks
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Governance :
- Develop and implement a risk-based EHS strategy aligned to global frameworks
- Lead EHS transformation programs across multi-site manufacturing operations
- Integrate EHS into business planning, operations, and performance management
- Drive organizational safety maturity and capability building
Compliance & Risk Management :
Ensure 100% compliance with :
- Statutory regulations (PCB, Factories Act, etc.)
- ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
- PepsiCo global EHS standards (GEHSMS)
- Design and deploy risk assessment frameworks (HIRA, JSA, BBS, etc.)
- Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
- Establish robust audit and assurance mechanisms (internal & external)
Operational Excellence & Transformation :
- Drive plant-level safety culture transformation programs
- Lead machine safety and engineering risk mitigation initiatives
- Implement continuous improvement frameworks (Lean / Six Sigma) within EHS
- Deploy and scale global best practices across manufacturing units
Leadership & Stakeholder Management :
- Lead, coach, and develop Plant EHS Managers (matrix structure)
- Act as a trusted advisor to Plant Heads and functional leadership
- Drive cross-functional collaboration (Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain)
- Manage external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and audit bodies
Audit, Systems & Capability Building :
- Develop and manage comprehensive EHS audit programs
- Track and ensure closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Build organizational capability through training and awareness programs
- Ensure strong adoption of digital EHS systems and reporting frameworks
Team Structure :
- 1 Direct Report (L9)
- 6 Matrix EHS Leads across manufacturing plants
- High interaction with Plant Heads and senior leadership teams
Ideal Candidate Profile :
- 12-18+ years of experience in EHS within manufacturing environments
Mandatory : Proven EHS leadership experience across multiple sites
- Industry experience in FMCG / Pharma / Chemicals / Large Manufacturing
Core Technical Expertise :
Advanced knowledge of :
- EHS regulations & compliance frameworks
- ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 standards
- Risk management methodologies (HIRA, JSA, FMEA, etc.)
Strong exposure to:
- Machine safety & engineering risk controls
- Incident investigation & safety analytics
- Environmental sustainability & compliance systems
Leadership Capabilities :
- Proven ability to lead transformation and cultural change initiatives
- Strong stakeholder influencing skills across functions and leadership levels
- Ability to drive execution through matrix teams
- High ownership with a hands-on, solution-oriented approach
