Patent Counsel - Chemistry/Material Science/Polymer Science

A leading global organization has retained us to hire a Patent Counsel to strengthen its Intellectual Property team and support strategic innovation across business units.

As Patent Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, protecting, and managing high- value inventions in the domains of chemistry, polymers, and material science.

This role integrates patent drafting, prosecution, search and analysis, and close collaboration with R&D and global IP stakeholders.

The key responsibilities will be to drive high- quality IP filings, advise on patentability and risk, and support the development of a competitive and aligned patent portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review invention disclosures, work with inventors, and scope novel subject matter.

- Draft and file patent applications aligned with technical and business objectives.

- Manage prosecution activities across major jurisdictions (US, EP, India).

- Conduct prior art searches, FTOs, and patent landscape analysis.

- Collaborate with cross- functional teams to support innovation strategy.

- Maintain high quality and compliance in all IP documentation and filings.

To fit the bill, you must have:

- 5- 8 years of hands- on experience in patent application drafting, prosecution, and analytics.

- A strong academic background - Master's (or PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Material Science, or Polymer Science.

- Excellent understanding of patent laws and prosecution processes in key jurisdictions.

- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work with global teams.
