Role Overview:
The successful candidate will lead an independent Strategic Business Unit (SBU) with complete ownership of business development, client management, transaction execution, team leadership, and profitability.
The role offers significant autonomy and is suited for professionals who possess an entrepreneurial mindset and enjoy building businesses.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Client Origination:
- Develop and manage relationships with promoters, corporates, private equity funds, family offices, institutional investors and strategic buyers.
- Originate M&A, capital raising, strategic advisory and corporate finance mandates.
- Build and maintain a healthy transaction pipeline.
- Drive revenue generation through new client acquisition and existing client relationships.
- Represent the organization at industry forums and networking events.
Transaction Execution:
- Lead end-to-end execution of investment banking mandates.
- Advise clients on mergers & acquisitions, fundraising, strategic partnerships and corporate finance transactions.
- Coordinate due diligence, negotiations, financial analysis, valuation and documentation.
- Ensure timely completion of transactions while maintaining high quality standards.
Team Leadership:
- Build, mentor and lead a team of investment banking professionals.
- Develop sector expertise within the team.
- Allocate assignments and monitor execution quality.
- Foster a collaborative, performance-driven culture.
- Coach team members and support their professional development.
Business Unit Management:
- Own the overall performance and profitability of the Strategic Business Unit.
- Monitor revenue, productivity and operational efficiency.
- Review business performance through periodic MIS and reporting.
- Ensure effective utilization of team resources.
- Drive continuous process improvements.
Risk & Governance:
- Maintain high standards of ethics and professional conduct.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Identify potential conflicts of interest and mitigate associated risks.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build long-term trusted relationships with clients.
- Ensure superior client service throughout the engagement lifecycle.
- Provide regular updates on assignment progress.
- Identify opportunities for repeat and cross-functional business.
