
Position Summary:
The Assistant Manager - Process Quality is responsible for working in tandem with other colleagues in the Quality function and is responsible for implementing and improving systems and processes to assure compliance with customer technical expectations and internal Quality targets along with quality-related statutory and regulatory requirements. In addition, the incumbent will identify and lead multi-functional six sigma and Kaizen projects focused on improving quality systems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Studies, interprets and communicates customer, regulatory and organizational requirements to assure product quality and customer satisfaction through the standard work of preparing, maintaining and updating PFMEA's, Process flow diagrams, Control plans, Inspection plans and Check sheets.
- Performs process capability studies, identifies OFI and develops improvement methodologies in coordination with Process Engineering and product design Engineering.
- Identifies risks to Quality in the existing processes and develops improvement actions in coordination with manufacturing and process engineering.
- Evaluates customer and warranty claims and develops improvement measures through the CFT approach and communicates to the customer on a timely basis in customer specific formats.
- Communicates and coordinates with CFT for customers and third-party quality inspection/audits.
- Works with other Quality engineers and CFT's in the preparation and submission of APQP and PPAP documents for new products and engineering changes.
- Prepares the MRM documentation for process Quality and presents effectively during the review meetings.
- Acquires customer metrics relating to quality performance, trends and corrective action and defines improvement measures.
- Participates and contributes actively in Kaizen events, SbD and deflation workshops.
- Continuously improves professional and technical knowledge by attending focused training programs and educational workshops.
- Develops the subordinates by evaluating their performance, identifying areas of improvement and preparing and executing their improvement plans.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications:
- Engineering Graduate in Mechanical or Industrial engineering.
- 4+ years experience in the Quality function with demonstrated ability to perform independently with a clear track record of shouldering increased responsibility.
Skills and Competencies:
- Hands on expertise in using 10 step problem solving process, 7 QC tools, process capability evaluation, conducting FMEA studies and usage of software tools such as Minitab, IQFMEA, Q-DAS etc.
- Familiarity and alignment with QMS standards: Specifically ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
- Possess strong hands on expertise in using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, profile projectors, roughness testers, contour testers, roundness testers etc.
- Have the basic knowledge of GD and T and be able to design simple inspection jigs and fixtures.
- Should have participated in HPT, Kaizen and completed a six sigma GB project.
- Possess good analytical, technical and interpersonal skills coupled with Verbal and Written skills required to be successful in this role.
