Packaging Development Manager - Packaging Development - FMCG

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Packaging Development Manager to lead end-to-end packaging development for food products. The role involves packaging innovation, material selection, trials, commercial scale-up, cost optimization and regulatory compliance to ensure product quality, food safety and packaging performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead packaging development for new product launches and existing products.

- Develop and validate primary, secondary and tertiary packaging solutions.

- Conduct packaging trials, testing, validation and commercial-scale implementation.

- Define packaging specifications, Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical standards.

- Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Procurement, Production, Supply Chain and Marketing teams.

- Drive packaging cost optimization, material reduction and innovation initiatives.

- Identify, evaluate and develop packaging vendors.

- Resolve packaging quality issues through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

- Ensure compliance with FSSAI, food-contact packaging and Legal Metrology requirements.

- Improve packaging performance and reduce defects, complaints and material wastage.

Desired Candidate Profile:

- 5 - 8 years of experience in packaging development, preferably in the Food or FMCG industry.

- Degree in Packaging Technology, Polymer Technology, Food Technology, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.

- Strong knowledge of flexible and rigid packaging materials and technologies.

- Experience in packaging trials, testing, validation and production scale-up.

- Understanding of food packaging regulations, food safety and quality standards.

- Experience in packaging vendor management and cost optimization.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
