Role Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and scale software engineering teams working on complex, enterprise-grade supply chain solutions. This role requires a strong balance of technical depth, people leadership, Agile execution, and delivery ownership. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for end-to-end delivery, team productivity, Agile maturity, and collaboration with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders.
The candidate must demonstrate a hands-on leadership approach, with the ability to step into technical discussions and, when needed, contribute directly to development activities.
1. Core Technical & Leadership Skills (Must-Have) :
A. Engineering Leadership :
- 12 - 18 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 - 6 years in an Engineering Manager or equivalent leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multiple teams (10 - 30+ engineers) across distributed or hybrid setups.
- Strong ownership of delivery, quality, and team performance.
- Ability to recruit, mentor, coach, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
B. Technical Expertise :
- Strong background in backend engineering, preferably with :
1. Java / JVM-based ecosystems (Spring, Microservices).
2. REST APIs, event-driven architectures.
- Working knowledge of :
1. Cloud-native architectures (AWS / Azure preferred).
2. CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices.
3. Databases (relational and NoSQL).
- Ability to actively engage in :
1. Code reviews.
2. Design discussions.
3. Architecture and performance trade-off decisions.
- Engineering Managers are expected to be technically credible and able to do hands-on contributions when required.
2. Agile & Delivery Management :
- Strong hands-on experience with Agile / Scrum methodologies.
- Ownership of :
1. Backlog refinement.
2. Sprint planning & estimation.
3. Capacity planning.
4. Sprint execution and retrospectives.
- Ability to translate :
1. Product vision and epics.
2. Into well-structured user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Ensure predictable and sustainable delivery velocity across teams.
- Continuously improve Agile maturity, engineering practices, and team efficiency.
3. Delivery Excellence & Productivity :
- Drive high standards of :
1. Code quality.
2. Test automation.
3. Documentation.
4. Release discipline.
- Actively track and manage :
1. Sprint velocity.
2. Delivery predictability.
3. Defect rates.
4. Technical debt.
- Proactively identify delivery risks and address them early.
- Ensure teams operate at optimal efficiency while maintaining quality.
4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Management :
- Work closely with :
1. Product Managers.
2. Architects.
3. UX / QA.
4. Business stakeholders.
- Act as the single-point owner for engineering delivery.
- Clearly communicate :
1. Progress.
2. Risks.
3. Dependencies.
4. Trade-offs.
- Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous feedback.
5. Domain Knowledge (Preferred) :
- Experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Enterprise SaaS platforms is a strong plus.
- Exposure to domains such as :
1. Transport Management Systems (TMS).
2. Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
3. Network Design.
4. Inventory & Capacity Planning.
- Ability to understand and align engineering decisions with business use cases.
6. KPIs & Success Metrics :
The Engineering Manager will be measured on :
- Sprint predictability and delivery consistency.
- Team velocity and throughput improvement.
- Quality metrics (defects, rework, production issues).
- Team engagement and retention.
- Alignment with product roadmap and milestones.
7. Personal & Leadership Attributes :
