Job Description: P&L Head West (Gensets/Powergen Business)
Reporting to : COO/CEO
Job Location: Mumbai
Position Summary:
The P&L Head West for the Gensets business will be responsible for the overall profit and loss management, strategy, and business growth in the Western region. The candidate must have extensive experience in both project sales and retail sales of diesel generator (DG) sets and gas gensets. This is a senior leadership position requiring strategic vision, cross-functional management, and proven expertise in the distributed power solutions market.
Key Responsibilities
Business P&L Ownership:
- Complete accountability for revenue, profitability, and market share targets for the Western region.
Sales Leadership:
- Drive both project sales (large infrastructure, industrial, and commercial projects) and retail channel sales for DG sets and gas gensets.
- Expand presence with large EPCs, industrial clients, facility management firms, and key retail distributors.
Market Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in target sectors: manufacturing, commercial buildings, healthcare, data centers, and infrastructure.
- Map and develop new retail and project sales channels.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing sales and business development team across the region.
- Foster collaboration with service, technical, and operations teams to ensure seamless customer experiences.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop annual operating plans and budgets, aligned with company and division objectives.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies to ensure business agility.
Customer Relationship Management:
- Build and sustain key account relationships with major project and retail clients.
- Oversee key negotiations and closure of large deals.
Process & Compliance:
- Implement robust sales processes and CRM systems.
- Ensure adherence to company governance, risk, and compliance protocols.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Education:
- B.E./B.Tech. in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering; an MBA is preferred.
Experience:
- 24+years of progressive experience in sales and business management of power generation solutions.
- Demonstrated achievements in both project sales (B2B, EPC, infra projects) and retail/channel sales of DG sets and gas gensets.
- Prior P&L or business unit leadership experience, preferably in Western India.
- Strong network with EPCs, end-customers, consultants, and channel partners in the region.
Skills:
- Sharp commercial acumen and understanding of P&L management.
- Deep knowledge of DG set and gas genset products, application engineering, and regulatory landscape.
- Excellent team leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with CRM and sales management tools.
