
Description:
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- EHS Strategy & Governance
- Define and deploy the EHS vision, policies, standards, and long-term roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Act as the organizations EHS authority for senior leadership, regulators, auditors, and external agencies
- Establish robust EHS governance frameworks across all sites
Safety Culture & Excellence Programs:
- Drive EHS excellence and behavior-based safety programs to strengthen safety culture across the organization
- Partner with plant leadership and line managers to embed safety ownership at all levels
- Lead initiatives to achieve zero harm and continuous improvement in safety performance
Risk Management & Hazard Control:
- Oversee Hazard Identification & Risk Analysis (HIRA) and ensure effective control measures are implemented
- Review and monitor Job Safety Analysis (JSA), risk registers, and critical safety controls
- Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations, ensuring robust root cause analysis and corrective actions
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with central and state environmental, health, and safety regulations, including:
- Factories Act
- Environment Protection Act
- Air & Water Acts
- Hazardous Waste Management Rules
- Liaise with State Pollution Control Boards, Factory Inspectorates, and Fire Authorities
- Ensure timely statutory reporting, approvals, renewals, and closure of observations
Training & Capability Building:
- Design and implement EHS training frameworks for:
- Factory EHS teams
- Line managers and supervisors
- Contractors and third-party workforce
- Build strong EHS competencies and leadership capability within manufacturing units
Environmental Sustainability:
- Lead environmental sustainability initiatives related to waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and emissions control
- Support ESG and corporate sustainability goals
- Drive compliance and certification under ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
Performance Management & Reporting:
- Define and track EHS KPIs, including leading and lagging indicators
- Monitor safety performance metrics such as TRIR, LTIFR, near misses, and compliance scores
- Present EHS dashboards and reports to senior leadership and corporate forums
Audits, Certifications & External Interface:
- Lead internal and external EHS audits
- Manage certifications and surveillance audits:
- ISO 14001
- ISO 45001
- Coordinate with external auditors, consultants, and certification bodies
- Ensure effective closure of audit findings within defined timelines
