Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and CPA-qualified Senior Manager US Tax to lead and oversee US tax compliance, review, advisory, and client relationship management activities.
The role requires deep expertise in US federal and multi-state taxation, strong leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex tax engagements while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership to the tax team, manage client engagements, mentor junior professionals, and contribute to process improvements and strategic tax planning initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
1. US Tax Compliance & Review:
Manage and review US federal, state, and local tax returns for:
1. Individuals (Form 1040)
2. Corporations (Form 1120 & 1120-S)
3. Partnerships (Form 1065)
4. Trusts and Estates, where applicable
- Ensure timely preparation, review, and filing of tax returns while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
- Review workpapers, supporting schedules, and tax computations prepared by team members.
- Monitor changes in US tax laws and regulatory requirements and assess their impact on clients.
- Ensure adherence to IRS regulations, filing deadlines, and internal quality standards.
2. Tax Advisory & Planning:
- Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to individuals and business entities.
- Analyze financial statements and transactions to identify tax implications and optimization opportunities.
- Advise clients on entity structuring, tax-efficient business strategies, and risk mitigation initiatives.
- Conduct technical research on complex tax matters and provide well-documented recommendations.
- Support clients in responding to tax notices, audits, and regulatory inquiries.
3. Financial Analysis & Accounting:
- Review and analyze financial statements for tax reporting and compliance purposes.
- Apply strong understanding of:
1. US GAAP
2. General Ledger Accounting
3. Financial Reporting Principles
4. Revenue Recognition and Expense Classification
- Evaluate accounting transactions and assess their tax treatment and reporting implications.
- Support tax provision calculations and related financial reporting requirements, where applicable.
4. Team Leadership & People Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing US Tax team.
- Allocate engagements and manage team workloads to ensure timely project delivery.
- Conduct technical reviews and provide guidance on complex tax issues.
- Drive capability building through coaching, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Establish performance standards and ensure adherence to quality and productivity metrics.
5. Client Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client engagements.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and high-quality service delivery.
- Present tax positions, recommendations, and findings clearly and professionally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address client requirements and improve service efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for value-added services and contribute to business growth initiatives.
6. Process Excellence & Compliance:
- Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Standardize tax processes, review methodologies, and documentation practices.
- Leverage technology and automation tools to improve productivity and reduce turnaround times.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, confidentiality requirements, and professional standards.
- Participate in process transformation and operational excellence initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA - USA) certification (Mandatory).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in US Taxation, preferably within a public accounting, tax advisory, or professional services environment.
- Extensive experience handling US federal and multi-state tax engagements for individuals and business entities.
