Manager - Business Development (FMCG/Nutrition)

Role Description
This role is responsible for converting Marketing Qualified Leads (MQLs) into Sales Qualified Leads (SQLs), engaging CXOs and founders of FMCG and Nutrition brands, and onboarding global brands onto Opptra's platform.
The role requires strong market understanding, commercial acumen, and the ability to work cross-functionally with category, operations, marketing, supply chain, and leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Strategy & Growth:
- Develop and execute the business growth strategy for the FMCG / Nutrition category across Asian markets
- Track consumer trends, competitive landscape, regulatory shifts, and emerging opportunities within nutrition, wellness, packaged foods, beverages, and personal care
- Build a category roadmap focused on brand acquisition, channel expansion, and sustainable revenue growth
2. Brand Acquisition & Onboarding:
- Onboard enterprise and high-growth FMCG / Nutrition brands across India, GCC, and South East Asia
- Convert MQLs into SQLs and lead pitches to close brands as Opptra franchise partners
- Own the end-to-end brand acquisition journey including scouting, outreach, pitching Opptra's value proposition, commercial negotiations, and onboarding
- Build strong relationships with brand owners, principals, distributors, and ecosystem partners globally
3. Market & Business Development:
- Evaluate new markets and channels for category expansion across online (D2C, marketplaces, quick commerce) and offline (modern trade, general trade, distributors)
- Define and execute go-to-market strategies for newly onboarded brands
- Work closely with operations, supply chain, and marketing teams on launches, pricing, demand planning, and inventory strategy
4. Commercial & Partnership Management:
- Lead commercial discussions including P&L ownership, pricing models, margins, revenue share, and franchise structures
- Negotiate contracts, partnership agreements, and long-term commercial frameworks
- Manage ongoing brand relationships to drive growth, profitability, and partner satisfaction
5. Performance & Analytics:
- Track category KPIs including sales, margins, channel mix, distribution depth, and brand productivity
- Analyse performance drivers and recommend actions to improve profitability and scale
- Prepare business reviews, performance dashboards, and strategic updates for internal leadership and brand partners
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
- 4-7 years of experience in Business Development, Category Management, or Brand Partnerships within FMCG, Nutrition, Wellness, or Consumer Goods
- Strong understanding of Asian FMCG market dynamics, regulatory environments, and ecommerce ecosystems
- Proven experience in brand acquisition, negotiations, and managing senior international stakeholders
- Commercially strong with experience owning or influencing category P&L
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to travel internationally as required
