Job Purpose / Summary:

The Operations Unit Head - Textiles leads end-to-end manufacturing unit operations across the Textiles business including advanced textiles and Converting product lines.

Job Description:

The executive is fully accountable for planned vs. actual production performance, operational excellence, cost competitiveness, quality adherence, workforce capability, and statutory compliance, ensuring all operational delivery aligns perfectly with the organisation's long-term manufacturing and growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Long-Term Strategy Development:

- Align plant-level production and capacity planning with long-term commercial strategy.

- Assess operational risks across manufacturing, quality, cost, and compliance to define mitigation actions.

- Drive plant preparedness for future product mix variations, capacity scaling, and advanced technology integration.

2. Business Planning:

- Develop annual operating plans covering production volumes, product mix, timelines, and resource distribution.

- Review operational performance periodically and deploy robust governance mechanisms for course correction.

- Coordinate with central planning and customer-facing teams to align production outputs with market demand forecasts.

3. Budgeting & Financial Planning:

- Drive preparation and strict execution of the annual operating budget for the unit.

- Monitor conversion costs, utilities consumption, and manpower costs against defined budgets.

- Assess ROI for productivity improvements, plant automation, infrastructure expansion, and modernization initiatives.

4. Operations Management:

- Lead end-to-end manufacturing operations across all product lines (Converting, Inspection, and Dispatch).

- Ensure total achievement of target outputs across production volume, quality metrics, unit costs, raw material yields, and delivery timelines.

- Balance capacity, line loading, and product mix to optimize operational throughput and margins.

- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly performance to quickly initiate corrective actions.

- Coordinate with Engineering to ensure equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and maximum uptime.

- Ensure strict alignment between plant production planning and control (PPC) and central corporate planning teams.

5. Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

- Drive implementation of TPM, TQM, 5S, Lean, Six Sigma, and other established improvement frameworks.

- Lead structured root-cause analysis and execute permanent corrective actions for quality, productivity, and delivery roadblocks.

- Establish international benchmarks and operational best practices across the facility.

6. Total Quality Management:

- Ensure absolute adherence to defined quality standards and strict customer specifications.

- Partner closely with internal quality assurance teams to maximize first-time-right production.

- Lead the rapid resolution of customer complaints through structured corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

7. Supply Chain & Dispatch Coordination:

- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Logistics teams to guarantee timely movement of finished goods.

- Secure consistent availability of raw materials, utilities, and spare parts to maintain uninterrupted production.

8. Projects & Capacity Expansion:

- Partner in the successful execution and commissioning of capacity expansion and technology upgrade projects.

- Enable the delivery of capital projects within approved timelines, budget allocations, and performance parameters.

- Support the stabilization and rapid scale-up of new production lines and product categories.

9. Legal & Statutory Compliance:

- Ensure absolute compliance with environmental, occupational safety, labor, and industry-specific statutory regulations.

- Drive continuous improvement in internal and external audit scores through strong governance.

- Promote an uncompromising safety-first culture across the entire manufacturing workforce.

10. People Development & Engagement:

- Build and lead a high-performing operations leadership team.

- Drive shop-floor productivity, employee engagement, skill training, and clear succession readiness.

- Act as an active coach and mentor to build advanced functional and leadership capabilities.
