Operations Manager (8-13 yrs)


Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Manager, Operations is responsible for achieving daily, weekly, and monthly production and quality targets, meeting customer requirements, and ensuring the lowest possible manufacturing cost through the application of advanced lean manufacturing techniques.

The role is responsible for coordinating manufacturing process improvements, root-cause investigations, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions. The Manager, Operations will also analyze quality and safety test results to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.

Role Expectations:

- Serve as a role model in promoting the company culture and values.

- Effectively manage a production team of several hundred employees.

- Prepare, interpret, and manage operational reports and budgets.

- Conduct plant capacity studies, including volume versus requirements and delivery timelines.

- Determine production headcount requirements based on capacity and operational needs.

- Ensure that required preventive maintenance activities are planned and completed.

- Apply company quality standards and manufacturing parameters.

- Implement approved manufacturing programs, procedures, and techniques.

- Follow all internal work regulations related to safety, employee relations, and the care of company equipment, materials, facilities, and other resources.

- Plan, manage, and execute production requirements while maintaining optimal levels of quality, productivity, efficiency, safety, waste, absenteeism, employee turnover, and operating costs.

- Coordinate activities across all shifts to achieve production, cost, quality, productivity, absenteeism, turnover, and employee engagement objectives.

- Partner effectively with Engineering, Quality, Human Resources, Maintenance, Finance, Materials, and other support functions.

- Participate in local and global manufacturing projects and ensure their successful implementation within the plant.

- Coordinate daily production meetings.

- Plan and manage production schedules to fulfill customer requirements and production orders.

- Present monthly operational results to management and administrative personnel.

- Develop and execute strategic objectives for the Production Department.

- Lead root-cause analysis and corrective and preventive action initiatives related to quality and production issues.

- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, regulatory, and company requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education:

- Bachelor degree or higher in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Completed MBA studies are an additional advantage.

Experience:

- Mandatory: Significant experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.

- 6-10 years of relevant professional experience.

- More than 5 years of experience in a similar operations or manufacturing management position, preferably within a manufacturing plant.

- Proven experience managing large-scale production teams.

- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading cross-functional teams.

- Experience with production planning, capacity management, cost control, quality systems, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

- Recruit, assign, direct, evaluate, and develop production and process engineering employees.

- Oversee employee competency development and maintenance.

- Perform administrative functions, including preparing and reviewing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing company rules, and making decisions regarding the purchase of materials and services.

- Collaborate with relevant departments to resolve plant-wide production and quality issues.

- Monitor performance against operational targets and implement improvement plans where necessary.

Complementary Skills:

- Basic knowledge of ISO 13485 standards and CFDA regulations.

- Ability to analyze production volumes, product mix, capacity, and delivery requirements.

- Ability to calculate and analyze manufacturing costs by product unit.

- Strong knowledge of product quality standards and requirements.

- Demonstrated ability to implement manufacturing process improvements.

- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams.

- Ability to support and resolve quality and production issues throughout the plant.

- Experience reducing scrap and manufacturing costs by product.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant production, communication, reporting, or enterprise systems.

- Ability to coordinate, monitor, and implement manufacturing projects.

- Lean Manufacturing certification is preferred.

- Strong leadership, communication, decision making, problem solving, and organizational skills.
