Operations Manager - Last Mile Delivery & Warehousing

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and optimize last-mile delivery and warehouse operations across multiple cities. This role is ideal for a high-performing professional with strong academic credentials and hands-on experience in logistics and operations, preferably within an e-commerce or high-growth environment. The position will focus on driving cost efficiency, operational excellence, and superior customer experience at scale.

Key Responsibilities:

Last-Mile & Global Operations

- Oversee and manage last-mile delivery operations across multiple cities, ensuring timely deliveries and high service levels.

- Own and improve delivery SLA performance and customer experience metrics.

- Design and implement end-to-end unit cost strategies for last-mile operations.

- Manage end-to-end last-mile delivery cycles, including 3PL and partner relationships.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

- Oversee inventory planning, warehouse productivity, and space utilization.

- Ensure warehouse operations are cost-effective and compliant with safety, legal, and regulatory standards.

Fleet & People Management

- Optimize fleet utilization and improve fleet management practices to control costs.

- Mentor and develop Delivery Centre Managers and operational leadership teams.

Operational Excellence & Network Optimization

- Develop and implement operational policies, SOPs, and best practices.

- Track and analyze operational KPIs, productivity metrics, and quality standards.

- Lead network planning and optimization initiatives to improve cost efficiency and scalability.

Financial & Stakeholder Management

- Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance of operations.

- Track vendor pricing, rebates, service levels, and contractual performance.

- Collaborate closely with Finance, Customer Support, and central teams to ensure seamless execution.

Leadership & Strategy

- Recruit, train, and lead high-performing operations teams.

- Drive strategic, policy, and operational decisions aligned with business objectives and profitability goals.

Required Experience:

- 46 years of experience in Operations / Logistics / Last-Mile Delivery, preferably in an e-commerce or consumer-facing setup

- Proven exposure to warehouse operations, last-mile delivery, and 3PL management

- Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

Educational Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree in Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field

- MBA from a Tier-1 institute (IIMs / IITs / NITIE or equivalent) preferred
