Operation Manager - Fund Accounting
Location: Bangalore
Experience: 10+ Years
Mandatory Requirements:
- Strong experience in AIF regulatory reporting and GIFT City/IFSC compliance.
- Hands-on experience in NAV, fund accounting, investor onboarding and KYC/AML.
- End-to-end fund operations with experience managing Trustees, auditors and regulatory stakeholders.
Job Roles & Responsibilities:
- Own regulatory compliance and reporting for India-domiciled AIFs and GIFT City (IFSC) structures - SEBI Activity/Asset Reports, Quarterly Activity Reports, IFSCA FME reporting, and other periodic filings - ensuring accurate, on-time submission.
- Track changes in SEBI AIF Regulations, RBI/FEMA requirements, and IFSCA (GIFT City) circulars, translating them into updated checklists and filing calendars ahead of deadlines.
- Coordinate with external legal, tax, and compliance advisors and statutory auditors to close out TDS, GST, and other regulatory filings across the fund book, resolving gaps proactively.
- Act as the primary point of contact for fund Trustees, ensuring reporting obligations, consents, and KMP updates are tracked to closure without follow-up chasing.
- Maintain working command of each fund's PPM, trust deed, contribution agreement terms, keeping drawdowns, distributions, and fee calculations consistent with documentation.
- Lead statutory and regulatory audits end-to-end - SEBI, RBI, IFSCA, or any other regulator - from information requests through closure of findings.
- Own investor onboarding compliance: reviewing KYC/AML checks and contribution agreements, so onboarding packs meet regulatory requirements before capital is accepted.
- Manage investor communication - drawdown notices, capital calls, distribution notices, and periodic reporting - keeping content consistent with each fund's PPM commitments.
- Oversee fund accounting across the portfolio - NAV computation, capital account maintenance, distributions, and expense allocation - reviewing trial balances and reconciliations before they reach funds, trustees, or auditors.
- Drive adoption of the fund accounting tool (ETON) and supporting systems, including opening balance migration and parallel runs against legacy records.
- Supervise and mentor the Bangalore fund administration team, allocating workload across India-, Singapore-, and UAE-serviced funds.
- Maintain operations and compliance trackers, run structured reviews, and escalate risks or filing delays early with a clear plan to close them.
Qualification & Experience:
- 8+ years in fund administration, fund compliance, or AIF operations, with hands-on exposure to SEBI AIF Regulations and, ideally, RBI/FEMA and IFSCA/GIFT City requirements.
- Proven experience preparing or reviewing SEBI AIF Activity Reports, Quarterly Activity Reports, or equivalent filings, gained at an AIF, fund administrator, custodian, or compliance advisory firm.
- Strong knowledge of investor onboarding compliance - KYC, AML checks, and contribution agreement review.
- Solid grounding in fund accounting, NAV computation, capital accounts, distribution waterfalls, and expense allocation.
- Comfortable applying PPMs, trust deeds, and contribution agreements to daily operations.
- Experience liaising directly with Trustees, RTAs, custodians, auditors, and external legal/compliance advisors.
- Exposure to multi-jurisdiction fund structures, India, GIFT City/IFSC, Singapore, and/or UAE highly valued.
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Law, or Finance; CA/CS/CFA or a postgraduate degree is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Excel; comfortable with fund accounting systems and tools such as Notion.
- Excellent written and verbal English, including experience drafting investor-facing communication.
- Strong ownership mindset, comfortable working across time zones with UAE- and Singapore-based stakeholders.
