Position Title: Director, CTO's Office

Department: Technology

Grade: 5A

Location: Bangalore, Chennai or Hyderabad

Role Overview:

Lead the operating rhythm of a 300-person technology organization - including the CTO's office, leadership forums, planning, budgeting, and board reporting - while building the agent-enabled tooling that allows a small team to deliver at scale.

The technology rhythm of business comprises the recurring forums and cycles through which the organization plans, prioritizes, funds, decides, and reports. These forums support material decisions, including capacity allocation, quarterly commitments, budgets, and readiness for increased autonomy.

This role is not a traditional project management office. Individual technology lines retain ownership of their delivery. You will lead the enterprise-wide operating cadence that enables the organization to plan, commit, fund, report, and make decisions consistently.

You will also manage the CTO's operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, the decision pipeline, executive and board commitments, and disciplined follow-through.

The function owns the quality and effectiveness of the decision process, while accountable executives retain decision authority. You will ensure competing proposals are quantified, discussed in the appropriate forum, documented, and tracked through completion. Maintaining this clear boundary is an important part of the role.

A second, equally important mandate is to build an agent-enabled operating model. With a deliberately lean team of two to three professionals, you will automate status collection, reporting assembly, dependency tracking, variance analysis, and meeting preparation. Designing and implementing this automation is a core responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

- Run the CTO's operating rhythm: leadership staff meeting, agendas, pre-reads, decision queue and follow-through

- Maintain the record of decisions taken, by whom and on what basis, and track execution against them

- Program manage the CTO's and leadership team's key deliverables end to end, with named owners and dates

- Prepare the CTO for executive, board and sponsor conversations with the material and the numbers behind it

- Own the forum calendar, inputs, quorum and follow-through across approximately twelve technology lines

- Ensure contested decisions reach the right forum with each case quantified, rather than being settled informally or deferred

- Maintain the cross-line dependency and risk view; surface seams before they become escalations

- Maintain a single source of truth for programs, commitments, goals and decisions

- Run the annual and quarterly planning cycles: inputs, consolidation, trade-off packs and published outcomes

- Operate the goal-setting and tracking cycle across lines, including mid-quarter re-forecasting when commitments move

- Own technology budget tracking, forecast and variance reporting with Finance

- Maintain the measurement of realized return on technology investment - what was spent, what came back, over what period - as a standing input rather than something assembled for each cycle

- Prepare executive, investor and board reporting, including the narrative and the numbers under it

- Plan and run technology town halls and organization-wide communications

- Design, build and operate the agents and tooling that automate status collection, reporting assembly, dependency tracking, variance analysis and meeting preparation

- Reduce manual effort per reporting and planning cycle on a measured basis, and report that measurement like any other commitment

- Set the working example for how the rest of the organization runs its own operating cadence

Key Partnerships:

- The CTO - partnering closely on the operating rhythm of the office

- The technology leadership team - consolidating plans, budgets, goals, and commitments across VPs and AVPs

- Finance - partnering on budget, forecast, variance, and return measurement

- People and Communications - partnering on town halls and organization-wide communication

- Investor Relations and Corporate Reporting - supporting board and sponsor materials

What Success Looks Like in the First 12 Months:

- 0 - 90 Days: Forum calendar, inputs and decision record documented and running; reporting inventory mapped with its current manual effort measured; first board and executive pack delivered to standard

- 3 - 6 Months: A full planning and goal-setting cycle run end to end; budget tracking and variance reporting operating with Finance; first agents in production for status collection and reporting assembly, with the effort saved quantified

- 6 - 12 Months: Majority of recurring reporting assembled automatically with human review rather than human production; dependency, risk and portfolio view trusted and used by line leaders; cadence running without routine escalation to the CTO

Qualifications:

- 8+ years in technology program management, engineering operations or business operations

- Run planning, goal-setting and budget cycles for a technology organization of 200+ people

- Prepared board-level or executive-level reporting, including building and reconciling the numbers rather than collecting them from others

- Held senior stakeholders to commitments and dates without line authority, and can describe a time you escalated rather than absorbed a slip

- Comfortable working with data directly - reconciling sources, finding the discrepancy, and standing behind the figure in front of an executive audience

- Hands-on with AI tooling, and able to build working automation rather than specify it for someone else to build

- Strong written communication - much of this role is producing documents executives act on without a meeting

- Master's degree from a leading business school, with a bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience

Preferred:

- Built automation or AI agents for program, reporting or business operations

- Private-equity-backed or high-growth environment with an active board and sponsor reporting cycle

- Engineering or technical background sufficient to question a delivery status credibly

- Supported a CTO, CIO or equivalent technology executive directly

- Healthcare or another regulated industry

- Fluency with portfolio and work management tooling, and with building reporting on top of it

What Will Make You Successful:

You will facilitate forums with senior leaders and hold stakeholders accountable for timelines and data quality without relying on formal authority. Success requires confidence, sound judgment, strong executive communication, and the willingness to challenge information that does not reconcile. The CTO will actively sponsor this mandate.

Why This Opportunity is Distinctive:

- Own the quality of the process while enabling the appropriate leaders to make decisions with clear, complete information.

- Build a deliberately lean, agent-enabled function, with automation treated as a measurable core objective.

- Serve as a trusted thought partner who can test plans, numbers, and status reporting constructively and credibly.
