Engineering Manager, Platform Infrastructure - Build Services
The Auth0 platform secures more than 100 million logins each day for customers all around the world - and we're growing fast! The Platform Infrastructure teams enable Auth0 engineers to move faster by giving them tools to easily build, deploy and manage their services on AWS and Azure. This is a role with a huge impact. You will get to work with engineers throughout the organization and what you build will be a foundational piece of the infrastructure that allows Auth0 to scale for years to come.
The Platform Build Services team is responsible for designing and developing the entire Continuous Integration (CI) system. Our primary output is the set of modular, standardized build stages and services that define how all code is tested, packaged, and secured. This role requires deep technical fluency to lead the development of these core components, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
You will:
- Provide direct technical leadership on the design and implementation of core components, leading architectural reviews and managing technical risk.
- Foster a culture of ownership and proactive self-unblocking. Coach engineers to autonomously investigate complex system failures, reach out to required partners for information, and take the initiative to remove technical roadblocks.
- Establish and oversee security and governance for the artifact lifecycle, including secure artifact sourcing, versioning, and policy enforcement across the platform.
- Be accountable for the operational health of the entire CI system, including high availability, scaling optimizations of the Build Infrastructure (build agents, source control integration, etc.).
- Drive cost optimization efforts across both the build compute systems and the artifact management storage to ensure efficiency at scale.
- Lead strategic collaboration with Product and Platform Engineering teams to drive the adoption of standard build modules and continuously gather input to improve the developer experience.
- Partner with Security Engineering to integrate robust security scanning, vulnerability remediation, and guardrail integrations into both the CI process and artifact handling.
- Discover, advocate for, and champion the adoption of new technologies and approaches to enhance the build and artifact platforms.
- Oversee large, cross-team initiatives from end to end: ensuring proper code reviews, design reviews, operational robustness, and security hygiene are maintained.
- Coach, mentor, and hire engineers on the team, focusing on technical excellence, career development, and leading them to quickly learn and navigate the highly complex system.
- Build out and manage the team's on-call rotation and lead the technical response when production incidents require build support.
You might be a good fit if you:
- Have 2+ years of experience managing an engineering team.
- Have 6+ years in a hands-on technical role, specifically in CI/Build Systems and/or Artifact/Dependency Management Platforms.
- Possess a deep, practical expertise in CI system architecture with a proven ability to design and scale modular build stages, build agent provisioning, and centralized artifact registry solutions.
- Have strong technical proficiency in Golang (or similar systems language) for tooling development.
- Have advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) at scale.
- Have a deep understanding of Kubernetes and containerization principles relevant to build execution.
- Tend to deliver work incrementally to get feedback and iterate over solutions.
- Bring the right attitude to the team: ownership, accountability, and attention to detail.
