Job Title: Ocean Freight Manager (Import/Export) 47 Years Experience


Location: Mumbai


About the Role:


We are seeking an experienced Ocean Freight Manager to oversee and manage import and export ocean freight operations.


The role requires strong industry expertise, operational leadership, compliance focus, and the ability to manage time-critical and sensitive shipments, particularly within regulated environments.


Key Responsibilities:


- Manage end-to-end ocean freight import and export operations.


- Ensure compliance with GDP guidelines, especially for temperature-sensitive or time-critical pharmaceutical shipments.


- Implement updates based on evolving international GDP regulations.


- Ensure accurate documentation, traceability, and compliance for all shipments.


- Monitor use of validated temperature-controlled packaging and monitoring devices when required.


- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for GDP handling in ocean freight operations.


- Conduct and coordinate GDP-related training and refresher programs for staff.


- Maintain accurate records including shipment tracking, temperature logs, carrier qualifications, and deviation reports.


- Act as the primary point of contact for GDP-related customer audits and regulatory inspections.


- Ensure smooth coordination with carriers, vendors, and internal teams to optimize service quality.


- Drive operational efficiency and recommend process improvements for better performance and profitability.


- Make informed operational decisions aligned with company standards and mission.

- Compliance adherence to GDP and international ocean freight regulations.


- On-time and error-free execution of import/export shipments.


- Reduction in deviations, non-conformities, and documentation errors.


- High service quality and customer satisfaction scores.

- Successful completion of audits with minimal observations.


Required Skillsets:


- Strong knowledge of ocean freight forwarding, import/export operations, and logistics processes.


- Understanding of GDP guidelines, temperature-controlled logistics, and pharma supply chain compliance.


- Excellent documentation, regulatory, and quality assurance skills.


- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.


- Ability to analyze operational challenges and implement effective solutions.


- Proficiency in SOP creation, audit handling, and process governance.


- Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and guide teams.


- Detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of handling time-critical shipments.


- Master's/ Bachelor's in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, or related field (preferred)
