About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and innovative Workday HCM and Payroll Technical Product Manager to lead the team responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting new enhancements within our Workday HCM and Payroll platforms. This role is central to ensuring our HR and payroll systems evolve to meet the changing needs of the business and provide a seamless experience for employees, managers, and HR stakeholders. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in Workday HCM and Payroll with proven leadership skills, and stakeholder management enabling the team to deliver high-quality solutions that improve efficiency, compliance, and the employee experience.
This leader will bring a cloud-native mindset, foster innovation across the team, and actively explore the use of AI-driven solutions to deliver smarter, more efficient enhancements. The role requires working core hours aligned to Eastern Standard Time (EST).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of Workday developers and analysts focused on designing, building, testing, and deploying new enhancements in Workday HCM and Payroll.
- Partner with HR, Payroll, and Technology stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and prioritize enhancement requests.
- Manage the enhancement backlog, balancing strategic initiatives with quick wins that improve employee and HR processes.
- Direct and mentor developers, ensuring high-quality deliverables through configuration oversight, code reviews, and coaching.
- Ensure enhancements are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with compliance and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate the adoption of new features released by Workday, identifying opportunities to incorporate them into HCM and Payroll processes.
- Promote innovation by leveraging cloud-native practices, automation, and AI to deliver smarter HR and payroll solutions.
- Document designs, configurations, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
- Provide clear, solution-focused communication with stakeholders, ensuring HR and payroll users are supported and delighted by enhancements.
Required Experience:
- 9+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong understanding of Workday HCM and Payroll modules (e.g., Core HCM, Absence, Time Tracking, Payroll).
- Hands-on experience with Workday configuration tasks (e.g., business processes, security roles, reporting, tenant setup).
- Technical proficiency in Workday integrations and reporting tools (EIBs, Core Connectors, Studio, calculated fields).
- Proven experience leading the delivery of Workday HCM or Payroll enhancements or similar ERP improvements.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring developers and analysts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical feasibility and business priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Ability to work core hours in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
- Cloud-native orientation and experience working with cloud-based technologies and integration platforms.
- Proven track record of driving innovation and introducing new ideas, tools, or processes that enhance system capabilities.
- Familiarity with AI and automation technologies and their application to HCM and Payroll processes.
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with Azure integration technologies (Logic Apps, Functions, Data Factory, Service Bus).
- Experience working in Agile or iterative delivery environments.
- Knowledge of Workday release management and the ability to plan adoption of new features.
- Exposure to cloud-native development practices and AI-enhanced reporting or analytics.
- Understanding of payroll compliance, tax rules, and regulatory requirements.
