Get first-hand experience in scaling the data/analytics infrastructure you build as the company grows rapidly Roles and Responsibilities: - Take ownership, collaborate with data analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs, and design optimal and scalable data solutions/models to meet the needs. - Collaborate with engineers across our stack and with business teams to improve our data collection capabilities and better inform downstream alerting metrics. Identify opportunities for data acquisition. - Apply software engineering best practices (like code review, testing, version control, documentation) when developing data models, views, etc to ensure data quality, standardization across pipelines and BI tools and reliability. - Build production-quality, well-documented and modular code, and maintain dbt data models to prepare data and metrics for end user analysis. - Evaluate changes and updates to source production systems and accordingly make suitable modifications in the data warehouse. - Implement data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and security. - Perform timely analysis to assess quality and meaning of data, and provide quality assurance of imported data. - Proactively discover & learn frameworks, technologies to improve efficiency of team, automate manual processes, and re-design infrastructure for greater scalability, optimized data delivery. - Aligning to Agile principles, and adhering to Sprint methodology. - Improve self sufficiency of decentralized teams w.r.t data while ensuring data masking and security. - Define & Manage the IAM policies across teams to access the data. - Monitor metrics for production workloads, and optimize them for performance & cost. - Hiring, Mentoring and Leading data/ analytics engineers as needed and contributing to the growth and development of the team. Skills Required : - Strong experience with programming languages like SQL, Python. - Expertise in data warehousing with preferable experience in BigQuery or Amazon Redshift. - Familiarity & comfort with Git - Expertise in data modeling & schema design. Good understanding of star & snowflake schema - Experience in ETL tools like Fivetran, Meltano, dbt. - Experience in data visualization tools like Tableau, Data Studio, Looker, Quicksight, Metabase - Knowledge of Computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, performance complexity, and implications of computer architecture on software performance (e.g., I/O and memory tuning) - Proficiency in statistics and statistical packages like Google Spreadsheets to be used for analyzing data sets - Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets - Have knowledge on industry practices in data security - Troubleshooting & debugging skills - Experience in Data Cataloging - Ability for critical thinking, and have a systematic and logical approach to problem-solving. Should have a solution-seeking mindset - Ability to perform root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data to identify opportunities for improvement and answer questions - Familiarity with agile methodologies and processes (Ex: Agile/SCRUM in JIRA). Ability to prioritize and deliver outcomes from each sprint - Ability to mentor & nurture Data/ Analytics Engineers. Must possess good communication & leadership skills - Have a good eye for accuracy and attention to detail - Be up to date with data engineering tools.
