The opportunity

The RuPay Product - Core is responsible for building, enhancing, and evolving the core product capabilities of the RuPay card network across domestic and international markets. The role focuses on architecting large scale payment platforms, strengthening the scheme's core infrastructure, driving innovation aligned with global card payment ecosystems, and ensuring best in class product design backed by strong regulatory and EMVCo fundamentals

Job Responsibilities

- Lead the development and enhancement of the RuPay Core Product Stack, including issuance, acceptance, processing, authentication, and risk controls.

- Design scalable platform capabilities to support rapidly growing transaction volumes, cross border enablement, offline payments, next gen authentication, and tokenized commerce.

- Drive end to end development of foundational capabilities such as EMV authorization flows, 3DS authentication & risk-based evaluation, Tokenization, SoftPOS & Tap to Phone acceptance, Preauth, deferred payments, and dispute flows, Integrated benefits & loyalty platforms

- Translate product requirements into functional and technical design specifications for engineering teams.

- Collaborate with technology, operations, and security teams to evolve platform performance, throughput efficiency, and latency improvements.

- Drive core modernization initiatives, ensuring RuPay's platform remains competitive with global switching, routing, and authorization standards.

- Lead ecosystem alignment for certification, compliance, and deployment of EMVCo-driven changes.

- Ensure full compliance with RBI, NPCI, EMVCo, PCI-DSS, network, and data security regulations.

- Interpret new regulatory guidelines and translate them into product features, ecosystem advisories, and implementation frameworks.

- Work closely with issuers, acquirers, payment processors, fintechs, and OEM partners to drive adoption of core features.

- Monitor transaction throughput, operational metrics, success rates, and partner performance; identify and drive resolution of systemic issues.

- Oversee certification, testing readiness, partner integrations, and production deployments.

Desired Skills and Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics, or related technical fields.

- MBA (preferred) Finance / Product Management / Strategy / Marketing / FinTech / Digital Business

- Candidates with postgraduate programs in payments, digital banking, or financial technologies will have an added advantage.

- 10-15 years of experience in payments, card networks, fintech, banking, or product management roles.

- Use GenAI for discovery synthesis, requirements drafting, risk/edge-case enumeration and spec review acceleration (with approval workflow).

- Prototype faster using AI-enabled UX flows and experimentation analysis to reduce time-to-validation.
