Position Title: Associate - Consumer Sector
Location: Mumbai
Job Overview: The Investment Banking Associate is an intermediate level position responsible for providing strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions and other types of financial transactions within the Consumer sector. The overall objective of this role is to act as a strategic advisory to our clients by formulating investment strategies and raising capital for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis:
- Build and review detailed financial models and valuation analysis
- Create discounted cash flow (DCF) models, comparable company analysis (CCA), and precedent transaction analysis
Market Research:
- Conduct extensive industry research to support senior bankers in understanding market trends, competitive dynamics, and any potential opportunities
- Analyse economic and financial data, policy changes, and market trends to identify trends, assess risks, and develop recommendations
- Monitor market activity, valuation benchmarks, and recent transactions within domestic and global markets
Transaction Support:
- Assist in the preparation of client presentations, pitch books, and other marketing materials for M&A, equity offerings, and debt issuances, with emphasis on consumer transactions
- Support the due diligence process, including data gathering, financial analysis, and coordination with various stakeholders
Client Interaction:
- Participate in meetings and calls with clients' management teams, promoters and investors to discuss strategic options, present findings, and provide updates on ongoing projects
- Prepare detailed client reports and presentations that summarize financial analysis, strategic recommendations, and deal terms
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, helping to identify and develop new business opportunities within the consumer sector
- Collaborate with senior bankers to understand client needs and deliver bespoke solutions aligned with consumer sector dynamics
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with analysts, senior team, and other team members to ensure seamless project execution and support. Mentor and guide junior analysts to enhance their development.
Deal Execution:
- Work closely with senior bankers and other team members to execute transactions, including drafting offering memoranda, coordinating with legal and accounting advisors, and managing project timelines
- Monitor the progress of deals, ensuring that all aspects of the transaction are moving forward as planned
Data Management:
- Organize and manage large sets of financial data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the team
- Create and maintain databases of market and financial information including consumer transaction benchmarks, valuation multiples, and operating metrics, for use in analysis and client presentations
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Engineering with an MBA from a top tier institute or CA. CFA is preferred.
Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or a related field
Skills:
- Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities to assess financial statements, create financial models, and conduct valuations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting complex financial data in a clear and concise manner.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in preparing financial models, reports, and presentations.
- Time Management: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and demanding environment working long hours. Multi-tasking and meeting accelerated schedules and urgent deadlines with a short turnaround time.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and financial databases (working knowledge of Bloomberg, Capital IQ will be an advantage)
