Key Responsibilities:
1. Payroll Operations Management:
- Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for all employees, including full-time, part-time, and contract staff.
- Ensure timely salary disbursement, tax deductions, and compliance with statutory obligations (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, etc.).
- Manage multi-location or multi-country payroll (if applicable).
- Monitor payroll reconciliation and ensure accuracy of all payroll-related entries.
- Regular interaction with next level HR stakeholders.
- Engage in regular communication and collaboration with next-level HR stakeholders to ensure alignment on payroll processes, compliance.
- Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) for external vendors, ensuring effective communication, issue resolution, and timely service delivery.
- Manage and reconcile payroll ledger entries in coordination with the finance team.
2. Compensation Strategy & Management:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive salary structure that balances internal equity with external competitiveness. Ensure the salary structure is aligned with performance, career progression, and income tax benefits for employees.
- Design and implement tax-efficient compensation structures to maximize employee take-home pay while ensuring compliance with local regulations.
3. Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, central payroll and wage-related laws, including adherence to minimum wage regulations and statutory requirements.
- Oversee statutory filings and coordinate with external auditors and government authorities.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, taxation, and compliance requirements.
4. Systems & Process Optimization:
- Implement and maintain efficient payroll systems and software (SAP, Workday, ADP, etc.).
- Lead payroll automation and digital transformation initiatives.
- Develop and enforce robust payroll policies and SOPs.
- Maintain the current payroll system while ensuring consistent enhancements and system development.
- Drive digital transformation by modernizing legacy systems and introducing AI-driven tools to automate payroll processes and improve data accuracy.
5. Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and develop the payroll team to ensure high performance and accuracy.
- Foster collaboration across HR, Finance, and IT departments.
6. Analytics & Reporting:
- Generate and review payroll reports for management and statutory purposes.
- Provide strategic insights and analytics on workforce costs, trends, and forecasts.
- Support budgeting and cost control through accurate payroll data.
7. Employee Experience:
- Act as an escalation point for complex payroll queries and ensure excellent employee service.
- Serve as an interface with employees and immediate business partners to address payroll queries, resolve issues, and ensure smooth communication.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security of payroll information.
