Job Description
Position: Key Account Manager - Modern Trade
Role & Responsibilities:
1. Manage and grow key Modern Trade accounts including national and regional retail chains.
2. Own end-to-end account management: JBPs, negotiations, promotions, visibility, and execution.
3. Drive primary & secondary sales, ensuring achievement of monthly, quarterly, and annual targets.
4. Lead commercial negotiations on margins, trade schemes, listing fees, and annual contracts.
5. Plan and execute Joint Business Plans (JBPs) with key accounts to drive sustainable growth.
6. Ensure effective in-store execution, visibility, and compliance across formats.
7. Coordinate with supply chain, finance, and marketing teams to ensure seamless execution.
8. Track and analyze sell-in, sell-out, ROI on promotions, and corrective actions.
9. Manage modern trade distributors / CFA partners where applicable.
10. Monitor competition, pricing, and market trends to provide actionable insights.
Qualifications & Education:
- Graduate (mandatory)
- MBA in Sales / Marketing (preferred)
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Strong key account management & negotiation skills
- Deep understanding of Modern Trade formats and systems
- Commercial acumen with strong data and analytical skills
- Ability to manage complexity across multiple stakeholders
- Result-driven with strong planning and execution skills
Experience Requirements:
- 5-6 years of experience in Sales, with minimum 3-4 years in Modern Trade / KAM
- Hands-on experience managing National & Regional Modern Trade Chains
- Strong exposure to JBPs, contracts, promotions, and visibility programs
- Experience working with FMCG / Consumer Healthcare / Hygiene categories preferred
- Experience handling Pan-India accounts or multiple regions is an advantage
Key Accounts Exposure (Indicative):
- National Chains: Reliance Retail, D-Mart, Amazon Fresh, Flipkart Grocery, Metro, Spar
- Regional Chains: Nature's Basket, Star Bazaar, Spencer's, More, etc.
