Business Development Manager
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Primary Role Description:
- Training & Support: Conduct regular training sessions for advisors, resolve their queries efficiently, and provide ongoing support to enable them to develop business effectively in the local market.
- Business Promotion: Drive business promotion activities, field visits, and local market initiatives to generate leads and support advisors in achieving their sales goals.
- Digital Adoption: Enable and train advisors on digital platforms and tools to enhance their sales capabilities and efficiency.
- Motivation & Recognition: Motivate advisors for achieving outstanding performance and participation in Rewards & Recognition programs.
- Agency Business Development: Be responsible for the overall development and growth of the Agency business in the assigned location.
- Business Achievement Focus: Maintain a sharp focus on achieving and exceeding defined business plans and targets for the branch.
- Drive Digital Agenda: Champion and drive the company's digital agenda within the agency channel, promoting the use of technology for sales and operations.
- Quality of Business: Ensure the consistent quality of business procured, adhering to company underwriting and compliance standards.
Achievement of Business Plans:
- Ownership of Business Plan: Own the comprehensive business plan for the assigned branch, encompassing both top-line (revenue) and bottom-line (profitability) targets for the team.
- Strategic Alignment: Internalize the management philosophy and business strategy of the company, effectively translating and driving it within the branch operations.
- Agent Engagement & Productivity: Ensure that the existing team of Agent Advisors is consistently engaged, highly motivated, and productive through strong relationship building and support.
- New Agent Induction: Ensure that new Agent Advisors are constantly inducted, activated, and contribute positively to the overall productivity of the team.
- Incentive Scheme Drive: Effectively drive the incentive schemes to ensure that the income of the Agency Managers and Agent Advisors consistently exceeds benchmark expectations, fostering retention and high performance.
Key Requirements Education & Certificates:
- MBA in Marketing / PGDM from a recognized institution.
Key Requirements - Experience & Skills:
- 6-10 years of progressive experience in business development and agency channel management, preferably within the Insurance sector.
- Proven track record of achieving aggressive sales targets.
- Strong experience in recruiting, training, and managing sales teams/agents.
- Excellent understanding of sales processes, market dynamics, and customer behavior in the insurance industry.
Ability to drive key performance indicators including:
- New GWP (Gross Written Premium)
- Renewal GWP
- Renewal no. of cases
- Active agents and PA (presumably Productivity/Persistency per Agent)
- Desired product mix
- No. of New Agents inducted
- Experience in managing Audit findings related to sales operations and ensuring compliance.
- Strong focus on Employee engagement and fostering a positive team environment.
- Strategies for managing and minimizing Attrition of agents.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Strong communication (verbal and written), presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
