About Newton School

Newton School of Technology (NST) is a new-age institution redefining technical education in India. Founded by IIT alumni, NST offers a 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science and AI, focused on hands-on learning and deep industry integration. Within two years, over 93% of students have secured paid internships with companies like Razorpay, SarvamAI, and DRDO, along with global exposure through tech treks to Singapore and Silicon Valley. Led by a distinguished faculty comprising ICPC World Finalists and ex-professionals from ISRO, Microsoft, MakeMyTrip, and several other leading tech organizations, NST is building a scalable, high-impact model that produces industry-ready talent for the world's most advanced technology roles.

Role Overview

Newton School is seeking a Senior Manager - Operations to lead large-scale execution, operational excellence, and team performance across critical student-facing and internal functions. This role is designed for a strong people leader and operator who can translate business goals into structured processes, predictable outcomes, and high-performing teams in a fast-paced education environment.

Beyond internal operations, this role carries direct ownership of the campus hostel ecosystem - including the end-to-end lifecycle of outsourced partners (hostel operator, security agency, F&B vendor, housekeeping vendor) and the in-house NST operations team that ensures these partners deliver to the standards our students deserve. The candidate must be equally comfortable negotiating SLAs with vendors and navigating complex multi-stakeholder environments - from students and parents to university administration and central leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Ownership & Execution

- Own day-to-day and strategic operations across admissions, onboarding, academic coordination, and student lifecycle touchpoints.

- Translate business goals into clear operating plans, execution roadmaps, and measurable KPIs.

Drive operational predictability through strong planning, prioritisation, and review mechanisms.

Hostel Ecosystem Management

- Lead the end-to-end process of shortlisting, evaluating, and onboarding key outsourced partners - including the hostel operator, security agency, F&B/mess vendor, and housekeeping vendor.

- Define and monitor SLAs, KPIs, and service standards for all outsourced partners. Conduct regular performance reviews and hold vendors accountable to commitments on food quality, hygiene, safety, maintenance, and manpower.

- Lead and manage NST's internal hostel operations personnel who are responsible for day-to-day oversight of outsourced partners.

- Establish feedback loops and ensure students' complaints are addressed with speed and accountability.

- Take ownership of hostel-related incidents - security breaches, health concerns, inter-student conflicts, or breakdowns in service delivery. Build strong SOPs for crisis communication, escalation, and resolution.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

- Lead, mentor, and scale multi-layered operations teams.

- Own goal-setting, performance management, capability building, and succession planning.

- Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and outcome ownership.

Process, SOPs & Scale

- Design, standardise, and continuously improve SOPs, workflows, and governance frameworks.

- Ensure compliance, documentation discipline, and operational consistency across teams.

- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable, tech-enabled solutions.

Data, Planning & Business Rigor

- Own operational dashboards and reviews to track efficiency, quality, and throughput.

Drive capacity planning, demand forecasting, and resource allocation in partnership with leadership.

- Apply strong financial and business acumen to ensure cost efficiency and operational ROI.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Partner with Marketing, Academics, Careers, Finance, and Product/Tech to enable seamless end-to-end execution.

- Act as the operations SPOC to align priorities, unblock dependencies, and drive closure.

- Support leadership with structured insights, risk flags, and execution updates.

Customer & Stakeholder Experience

- Ensure a consistently high-quality student and stakeholder experience across operational touchpoints.

- Handle escalations with speed, ownership, and professionalism.

- Embed service excellence and quality benchmarks across teams.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Must-Have

- 4+ years of experience in Operations, Program Management, Business Operations, or Sales/Revenue Operations.

- Proven track record of leading teams and managing large-scale execution in fast-paced environments.

- Strong analytical ability with hands-on experience in dashboards, CRM/ops tools, and reporting.

- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritisation skills.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Comfortable operating in target-driven, high-growth setups.

Preferred

- Experience in education, ed-tech, or services-led organisations.

- Exposure to process transformation, scale-up, or zero-to-one ops builds.

- Background in Business, Operations, Engineering, or related fields.

What Success Looks Like

- Predictable, scalable, and well-governed operations across teams.

- High team performance, engagement, and retention.

- Strong cross-functional alignment and execution velocity.

- Improved operational efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.

- Leadership trust driven by data-backed insights and reliable delivery and proactive stakeholder management.
