Job Summary:
The incumbent will be responsible for end-to-end development of new copper products including winding wires, cables, and transformer strips. This includes product design, process development, testing, customer validation, cost optimization, and coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure successful commercialization.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead new product development initiatives for copper winding wires, cables, and transformer strips from concept to commercialization.
- Conduct market research, customer requirement analysis, and benchmarking to identify new product opportunities.
- Develop product specifications, technical datasheets, drawings, and BOMs as per customer and industry standards.
- Coordinate with R&D, Production, Quality, Sales, and Procurement teams for feasibility analysis and process finalization.
- Manage trial production runs, pilot batches, and product validation testing (electrical, mechanical, thermal, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with IS, IEC, ASTM and other relevant standards.
- Work closely with customers for sample development, approvals, and technical clarifications.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
- Handle product documentation, SOPs, and change management.
- Support troubleshooting of quality issues related to new and existing products.
- Participate in technical audits, customer visits, and product presentations.
- Track project timelines and ensure on-time product launches.
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of copper metallurgy, wire drawing, annealing, enamelling, stranding, rolling, and insulating processes.
- Understanding of transformer winding wires, strips, power cables, and specialty copper products.
- Familiarity with testing methods - conductivity, elongation, tensile, breakdown voltage, adhesion, thermal shock, etc.
- Knowledge of quality systems, APQP, FMEA, PPAP (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Educational Qualification:
B.Tech/BE in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering
