Neterwala Group - Lead - Materials - COE

The incumbent will be responsible for spearheading our Materials Centre of Excellence, specifically for our metals manufacturing division. The Lead Materials COE Manager will play a pivotal role in optimizing materials management processes and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and support our strategic objectives.

General background: The ideal candidate is an engineering graduate in Metallurgical, Materials Science, Supply chain management, or a related field. Advance degree in materials management having 15-20 years' experience including at least 10 years of progressive experience in materials management, procurement, or supply chain within the metals manufacturing industry.

Areas of experience sought:

- Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for materials management within the metals manufacturing division, aligning with overall business goals and industry best practices.

- Identify opportunities to streamline materials management processes specific to metals manufacturing, including raw material sourcing, inventory management, and scrap recycling, to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

- Lead efforts to develop and maintain strong relationships with metal suppliers, negotiate favourable contracts, and ensure a reliable supply chain to support production needs while minimizing risks.

- Implement robust inventory control systems and forecasting methods tailored to the unique requirements of metals manufacturing, ensuring optimal inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing excess inventory and carrying costs.

- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality standards for incoming raw materials and finished products, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications.

- Partner with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, procurement, and logistics, to align materials management processes with overall business objectives and drive synergies across departments.

- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of materials management processes, identify areas for improvement, and lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.

SKILLS:

- Strong understanding of metals manufacturing processes, including raw material sourcing, melting, casting, forging, and finishing.

- Proven track record of strategic leadership, process optimization, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.

- Proficiency in ERP systems and materials management software/tools
