Role Summary:

We are seeking a high-impact Vice President of DevOps and Infrastructure Engineering to lead the architecture, automation, and evolution of our global data platform. Based in Mumbai, you will function as a strategic leader and technical authority, overseeing a complex hybrid ecosystem that spans on-premise data centers and AWS cloud environments. This role demands a "Trusted Advisor" who can bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and deep technical execution, transforming technical challenges into an actionable, scalable roadmap. You will be accountable for the reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness of our mission-critical data infrastructure while fostering a culture of high-velocity deployment through modern CI/CD practices.

Technical Responsibilities:

- Infrastructure Strategy and Roadmap Development: Analyze the global technology landscape to identify operational bottlenecks and opportunities, translating them into a multi-year infrastructure roadmap aligned with business goals.

- Hybrid Cloud Platform Engineering: Design, build, and maintain a robust, highly available cloud data platform infrastructure, managing seamless integration between on-premise systems and AWS services.

- Platform as Code (PaC) Implementation: Lead the shift toward Platform as Code and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring all environments are reproducible, version-controlled, and automated.

- Advanced CI/CD Orchestration: Architect and maintain enterprise-grade Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines specifically optimized for data platform workloads and complex application deployments.

- Automation and Tooling Development: Design and develop sophisticated automation scripts and proprietary tools to streamline the deployment, scaling, and management of large-scale data platforms.

- Cross-Functional Data Collaboration: Partner deeply with Data Engineering and Analytics teams to architect infrastructure solutions that meet high-throughput data processing and low-latency query requirements.

- Proactive Observability and Health Management: Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks to ensure 99.99% uptime and proactive resolution of system health issues.

- Security and Regulatory Compliance: Architect and enforce zero-trust security measures, encryption protocols, and compliance frameworks to ensure the platform meets global financial and data residency regulations.

- Scalability and Cost Optimization: Continuously re-engineer the platform to ensure it remains horizontally scalable and cost-efficient, utilizing AWS FinOps principles to manage cloud spend.

- Senior Stakeholder Management: Act as a technical liaison to senior management and application teams, providing expert guidance on infrastructure best practices and platform capabilities.

- Operational Excellence and Support: Provide top-tier escalation support for the developed platform, ensuring that the "you build it, you run it" philosophy is maintained with high operational rigor.

Required Technical Expertise:

- Cloud Mastery: Deep architectural knowledge of AWS (compute, storage, networking, and data-specific services like EMR, Redshift, or Glue).

- Automation & IaC: Expert-level proficiency in Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or Pulumi.

- Containerization & Orchestration: Advanced experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, and service mesh technologies.

- Data Infrastructure: Familiarity with managing high-scale data engines (e.g., Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, or Hadoop) in a DevOps capacity.

- CI/CD Tooling: Mastery of Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.

- Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for building custom automation and tooling.

Preferred Skills & Leadership Competencies:

- Strategic Influence: Proven ability to act as a "Trusted Advisor" to C-suite executives and diverse business stakeholders.

- FinOps Knowledge: Experience in cloud cost modeling and implementing automated cost-saving measures (Spot instances, Graviton migration, etc.).

- DevSecOps Integration: Hands-on experience integrating security scanning (SAST/DAST) and compliance-as-code into the deployment lifecycle.

- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Deep understanding of SRE principles, including Error Budgets, SLIs, and SLOs for data platforms.

- Global Team Leadership: Experience managing and mentoring geographically distributed engineering teams.

- Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional is highly desirable.
