Role Overview
The National Sales Manager will lead domestic sales and marketing operations for the Urology portfolio and may also oversee the Gynecology segment. The primary objective is to drive business growth, profitability, and market leadership. This role requires a dynamic leader with strong expertise in specialty pharmaceuticals, proven sales acumen, and an extensive network of key opinion leaders across India.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategy
- Define and drive strategic direction aligned with corporate objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and manage pan-India sales teams including Zonal and Regional Sales Managers.
- Develop and execute annual business plans to achieve sales targets and expand market presence.
2. Sales & Marketing Excellence
- Oversee domestic trade and government sales operations.
- Identify growth opportunities and drive new product launches, brand building, and portfolio expansion.
- Ensure optimal product positioning, pricing, and promotional strategies.
3. Market & Industry Development
- Build strong relationships with leading urologists, urogynecologists, and gynecologists' (100+ KOLs/KBLs).
- Track market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes.
- Strengthen presence across trade, institutional, and government business segments.
4. Operational & Financial Accountability
- Manage full P&L responsibility for the division.
- Ensure accurate forecasting, MIS reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
- Drive field force productivity and compliance with company and regulatory standards.
5. People Development
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous learning.
- Lead capability-building initiatives and leadership development programs.
- Support market expansion and product launch strategies.
Must-Have Skills
- Strong leadership with high field engagement (minimum 20 days/month in the field).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Analytical mindset with strong execution capability.
- Passion for long-term organizational growth in specialty pharma.
Qualifications & Experience
- Graduate / Postgraduate in Science, Pharmacy, or Marketing.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Urology / Gynecology pharmaceutical sales.
- Proven track record in managing large pan-India sales teams.
- Strong experience in government tenders, institutional sales, and trade marketing.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, MIS, and P&L management.
- Consistent history of sales achievement and successful product launches.
