Role Overview:
A National Credit Manager for a housing finance company leads the overall credit risk, policy formulation, and underwriting standards for product lines like Home Loans and Loans Against Property (LAP). This senior leadership role ensures portfolio health, regulatory compliance (RBI/NHB), and scalable risk operations across all national branches.
Credit Policy & Underwriting:
- Design and update credit underwriting policies for Home Loans, LAP, and Affordable Housing.
- Align risk frameworks with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and National Housing Bank (NHB) mandates.
- Set up risk-based delegation of authority (DOA) matrices for regional and branch credit teams.
Portfolio Quality & Risk Management:
- Track national delinquency trends, Portfolio at Risk (PAR), and Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).
- Conduct root-cause analysis on early warning signals and default hot spots.
- Drive corrective actions and policy tweaks to maintain healthy asset quality.
Team Leadership & Operations:
- Manage regional credit heads and national underwriting teams.
- Optimize Turnaround Time (TAT) for loan approvals without compromising risk parameters.
- Collaborate with sales, technical, legal, and operations verticals.
