Role Overview:


We are looking for a seasoned, driven, and entrepreneurial leader to helm our Modern Trade vertical nationally. The National Head Modern Trade will be responsible for scaling footprint in modern retail, driving strategic partnerships, improving in-store execution, and unlocking growth across chains, formats, and regions. Key Responsibilities:


Strategy & Growth Leadership:


- Build and execute a national Modern Trade roadmap aligned with aggressive growth goals.


- Own the annual and quarterly sales plan, category expansion targets, and retail partner strategies.


- Identify new-age retail opportunitiesespecially those engaging Gen Z audiences.


Key Account Management & Business Development:


- Lead end-to-end partnerships with top national and regional accounts (D-Mart, Reliance Retail, etc.).


- Drive listings, visibility, shelf-space negotiations, and in-store promotions with retailers.


- Ensure the successful launch and scale-up of new products across modern trade partners.


Sales Execution & Performance Management:


- Deliver top-line revenue, volume, and distribution KPIs across modern trade channels.


- Continuously track performance vs. plan and optimize pricing, promotions, and assortment strategies.


- Leverage retail sales data and shopper insights to drive in-store conversions and repeat purchases.


Team Leadership & Capability Building:


- Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing modern trade sales team across regions.


- Set clear KPIs, coach for performance, and create a strong culture of accountability and ambition


Trade Marketing & Activation Execution:


- Collaborate with brand and marketing teams to plan and execute trade marketing programs.


- Ensure sharp execution of planograms, point-of-sale branding, sampling, and promotions.


- Track ROI of trade spends and tweak activations based on data and feedback loops.


Cross-functional Collaboration & Ops Alignment:


- Work closely with Supply Chain and Finance teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment, inventory hygiene, and credit discipline.


- Quickly resolve operational bottlenecks across geographies to ensure retail continuity.


Candidate Profile:


Experience & Qualifications:


- MBA preferred; Bachelor's in Business, Marketing, or related fields.


- 1215 years of FMCG experience, with at least 5 years in a national Modern Trade leadership role.


- Strong preference for prior experience in the beverages, chocolate, snacking category.


Skillset:


- Deep expertise in modern trade formats (National Chains, Regional Chains.).


- Proven track record of double-digit sales growth, expanding retail reach, and brand activation.


- Strategic mindset with tactical execution skills and data-led decision-making.


- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and people leadership abilities.


- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and retail analytics dashboards.


Attitude & Cultural Fit:
