While today's youth are socially aware, impact-focused, and ideologically engaged, many still opt for conventional 9-to-5 careers. This is not due to a lack of intent, but rather limited exposure to alternative pathways, societal pressures for 'safe' choices, and the absence of structured entry points into nation-building roles.
Recognising both the untapped potential of India's youth and the constraints around them, NationBuilding is designed to translate intent into impact through a clear, student-led framework.
But our story is not really about us. It's about a generation choosing to show up for India. Because when young people find purpose and community, they don't just participate in growth, they lead it.
Our key initiatives include:
- NationBuilding Case Study Competition: We are currently running our third edition of India's largest case study competition at an undergraduate level.
- Impact Chapters: Thriving student communities in top institutes of the country, solving hyperlocal issues and driving real-world impact.
- Pan India Events: Driving conversations on democracy, governance and public policy amongst the college students.
What are we looking for in the Head-Brand and Communications?
As NationBuilding scales, the need for clarity of narrative, credibility of voice, and consistency of execution intensifies. The Head-Brand & Marketing will own and shape NationBuilding's institutional narrative, brand architecture, and communication strategy across all touchpoints.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, high-ownership leader to build NationBuilding's brand and marketing function from the ground up. This is a zero-to-one role for someone who works from first principles, designing the systems, ideas, and operating rhythms required to establish a credible public voice and deliver disciplined, scalable communication across platforms, stakeholders, and moments of engagement.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Brand strategy and narrative ownership: Define and own NationBuilding's core positioning, narrative, and message architecture. Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and values across all platforms, formats, and moments of engagement.
- Content and communication systems: Design, build, and scale a multi-channel brand marketing and content pipeline. Lead long-form and short-form content across digital channels (podcasts, social media campaigns, newsletters) and on-ground campaigns (event design and messaging), while setting and enforcing rigorous editorial and quality standards.
- Platform presence and growth: Establish and grow NationBuilding's presence across priority social and digital platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, etc. Balance reach with credibility, ensuring growth aligns with narrative depth, audience trust, and brand equity.
- Stakeholders and institutional communication: Partner closely with leadership, program teams, and external stakeholders to shape clear and compelling communication for institutions, partners, speakers, and ecosystem leaders.
- Team building and leadership: Build and lead a high-performing brand and communications team. Recruit, mentor, and manage writers, designers, agencies, and freelancers, fostering a culture of ownership, rigour, and accountability.
Eligibility:
- 8-10 years of experience across brand, social media, or communications roles
- Have experience across at least two of the following environments:
- Creative or communications agencies or editorial spaces - Impact, policy, or mission-driven organisations
- Brand, startup, or platform roles
- Demonstrated ownership of narrative and brand outcomes, not just execution of briefs
- Proven experience leading and mentoring teams (including writers, designers, and creative strategists)
Note: This is a contractual role till March 2027.
