Research Fellow at Mythik

Mythik's founding team includes seasoned entrepreneurs and former senior leaders from Netflix, Disney, Marvel, Viacom, Amazon Studios, and Jio.
Role Description:
As Research Fellow, your specialised expertise in Sanskrit literature, history, philosophy, or a related field, will be crucial to ensuring Mythik's content is well-researched and authentic, and based on original texts and academic scholarship. You will conduct your own in-depth research across literature, history, philosophy, and religion in relation to specific stories and characters from across Indian mythology. You will collaborate with the research team to ensure accuracy and include details and critical analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, analyse, and synthesise primary and secondary sources from across Sanskrit literature, primarily epics and puranas. Produce, review, and edit research briefs and documents based on these texts.
- Support marketing, creative, and technical teams with academically rigorous content focused on stories, characters, and themes from across Indian mythology. Review and authenticate content created by directly referring to texts.
- Conduct historical research and fact-checking across a number of areas (such as visual art, iconography, historical information, architecture, etc.).
- Distil complex academic ideas into accessible yet detailed and thorough insights for use in world building and narratives.
- Collaborate with international experts and scholars on the above.
Requirements & Skills:
- PhD ideally, or Masters, in a related field such as Sanskrit, History, Classics, Literature, Philosophy, or Religious Studies.
- Excellent knowledge of stories, characters, themes, and philosophy across Sanskrit epic and puranic literature, Vedic deities, and Indian mythology at large.
- Published own independent research articles, journals, or books in related subject, showing excellent experience as a researcher in your field, relevant to Mythik's focus.
- Excellent ability to access and refer to Sanskrit texts, published materials, and academic articles and books to ensure accuracy, detail, and closeness to texts.
- High standards of depth, clarity, and integrity in research. Rigorous, self-directed, and curious. Comfort with interdisciplinary thinking and navigating unfamiliar material.
- Collaborative attitude. Willingness to adapt to new processes and systems, responsive, and tech-savvy.
- Comfortable working in an early-stage, fast-paced environment.
