Role Objective :
We are seeking an experienced Category Manager/Category Lead for the Steel/ Cement category to build and expand a robust supplier network, drive category strategy, and establish long-term partnerships with cement manufacturers and distribution partners. The role requires strong procurement expertise, market knowledge, and the ability to drive commercial excellence within the category.
Role Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement sourcing and supplier engagement strategies for the Cement / Steel category (Aggregates & Sand, Bricks & Blocks/ Steel, TMT, Metals, Pipes etc)
- Build relationships with leading cement manufacturers, grinding units, distributors, and channel partners.
- Identify and onboard new suppliers to strengthen category depth and market coverage.
- Lead commercial negotiations and establish long-term supplier agreements.
- Track cement industry trends, pricing movements, capacity additions, logistics costs, and regional market dynamics.
- Drive supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align category strategies with business goals.
- Develop market intelligence and category insights to support growth and profitability.
- Ensure supplier compliance with quality, safety, and sustainability requirements.
Qualification & Experience :
- 10 - 15 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, Supply Chain, or Commercial functions
- Significant experience in cement procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and category development (Aggregates & Sand, Bricks & Blocks/ steel, TMT, Metals, Pipes etc)
- Strong understanding of cement manufacturing, distribution networks, and market dynamics.
- Experience working with cement manufacturers, construction companies, real estate developers, EPC organizations, or large procurement functions.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Deep understanding of cement industry economics and supply chains.
- Category planning and supplier development expertise.
- Market intelligence and analytical capabilities.
- Contract management and stakeholder engagement experience.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Commerce, or related discipline.
- MBA (desirable)
