Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced US Taxation Team Lead - Manager to lead a team responsible for preparing and reviewing complex US individual tax returns and supporting related business, state, and international tax requirements. The role will combine strong technical tax expertise with people management, quality control, workload planning, client coordination, and delivery ownership.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with Forms 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR, along with proven experience managing tax professionals and working with US CPA firms or clients.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of US tax professionals responsible for individual tax return preparation and review.

- Review complex US individual tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

- Review business, state, and international tax returns or related workpapers where applicable.

- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, tax laws, client requirements, and internal SOPs.

- Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, manage turnaround times, and ensure timely delivery, particularly during tax season.

- Act as the primary escalation point for complex tax, client, and technical issues.

- Perform quality reviews, identify recurring errors, and implement corrective actions to improve accuracy and efficiency.

- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide technical coaching, feedback, and development support to team members.

- Develop and deliver training programs on US tax regulations, return preparation, software, and process updates.

- Support hiring, onboarding, and capacity planning for the US tax team.

- Coordinate with US CPA firms, clients, senior leadership, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth delivery.

- Monitor team KPIs covering quality, productivity, turnaround time, utilization, and adherence to SLAs.

- Support tax-season planning, resource allocation, workflow balancing, and operational readiness.

- Stay updated on changes in US federal and state tax laws, IRS guidance, and filing requirements and communicate relevant updates to the team.

- Drive continuous improvement through process standardization, automation, knowledge sharing, and workflow optimization.

- Maintain appropriate documentation, review notes, and audit trails for tax work.

- Support management with regular reporting on team performance, risks, capacity, and delivery status.

Required Skills & Experience:

- 5 - 10 years of experience in US Taxation, with strong hands-on experience in individual tax compliance.

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Team Lead, Senior, or Supervisory role with people-management responsibilities.

- Strong expertise in Forms 1040, 1040-NR, and 1040-SR.

- Strong knowledge of US federal and state taxation.

- Exposure to business and international taxation is preferred.

- Proven experience reviewing complex individual tax returns and identifying technical or compliance issues.

- Strong understanding of IRS regulations, tax compliance, filing requirements, and tax-season processes.

- Experience managing workload allocation, team productivity, quality, and turnaround time - SLA performance.

- Strong people-management, coaching, mentoring, and performance-management skills.

- Experience working with US CPA firms, US clients, or global tax delivery teams.

- Proficiency with US tax software and MS Excel - Outlook.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and manage peak-season workloads.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.

- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification would be preferred; other relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
