Micro Plastics - Product Costing Manager

Job Description:

RFQ Analysis & Cost Estimation:

- Evaluate and respond to customer RFQs with accurate and timely cost estimates.

- Collaborate with procurement, production, and design teams to gather data for RFQs.

Cost Model Development:

- Build and maintain comprehensive cost models for new and existing toy products.

- Update cost models based on changes in design, material prices, and labor costs.

Machine Hour Rate Calculation:

- Analyze and update machine hour rates across different production lines.

- Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to track utilization and efficiency.

Material Costing:

- Work with the procurement team to ensure up-to-date pricing of raw materials.

- Track and evaluate material consumption for accurate BOM-based costing.

Excel Expertise:

- Develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets with formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation, and macros.

- Automate repetitive tasks and improve the accuracy of costing tools using Excel functions.

Cross-functional Coordination:

- Coordinate with R&D, Finance, and Operations to align product costing with budget and profitability goals.

- Support pricing decisions with reliable cost data and margin analysis.

Reporting & Documentation:

- Generate detailed cost reports and present to senior management for decision-making.

- Maintain documentation for costing assumptions, revisions, and methodology.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in engineering+MBA Finance, Cost Accounting, or a related field.

- Minimum 10 years of experience in a costing or estimation role in manufacturing, preferably in the toy industry or consumer products.

- Proficient in cost estimation methodologies, machine hour rate calculation, and material costing.

- Advanced Excel skills - including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, and preferably macros/VBA.

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple RFQs under tight deadlines.
