As such, the Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for the end-to-end execution of the web and mobile experience.   - This role will require you to be working in the capacity of a Technology Lead writing software 80% of the time while 20% of the time will be spent in breaking down specs into development tasks, mentoring other engineers and working with the Product Manager.  - You will report directly to the CEO and Board of Directors and interact with the Product Manager and other engineers on a daily basis.  - You will be responsible for full life cycle software development projects.  - Take ownership of product engineering and its delivery as per the product roadmap. Work with the product manager and stakeholders keeping everyone in sync with the development schedules.  - Proactively identifying architectural and feature weaknesses and recommending/seeking appropriate solutions   - Work with technology teams outside MiCar and execute development activities.  - Scale the technology team as the product scales.  - Traveling 10-20% of the time as per the product needs to meet, guide and work with technology vendors.  - Make sure the team produces high quality, efficient and maintainable code. Promote improvements for software development practices, processes and standards with consideration of quality, innovation, and productivity  - Motivate and coach the developers to develop their technical skills and knowledge; eager to learn continuously and motivate the team in doing so.  - Holding weekly sprint meetings, daily sync-ups and assigning coding tasks across the team.  - Reviewing code before major commits.  Desired Skills:  - At least 10 years of experience in software development overall with a current role as a Senior Software Engineer / Staff Engineer / CTO / Principal Engineer.  - Minimum 6-10 years of experience in building scalable modern web applications, using the Grails framework.   - Expertise in and appreciation of the Grails framework and Groovy language.   - At least 2 years of experience with Full Stack Web Development (both back-end and front-end).  - Deep expertise in Grails framework with good familiarity in HTML5, JQuery and Twitter Bootstrap.  - BTech, MTech, or PhD in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).  - Strong object oriented design skills, knowledge of design patterns, algorithms and MVC architecture.  - Prior experience in managing cross-functional teams that successfully built complex software products using agile methodologies.   - Deep understanding of design patterns, optimizations, deployments and tuning servers like apache/ mysql/ tomcat/ solr.  - Knowledge of Test Driven Development  - Passionate about hands-on software development.  - Strong believer of instilling and adhering to good engineering practices and testing methodology   - Willing to take end-to-end ownership of technical execution from identifying architectural technical bottlenecks/improvements to setting up the needed engineering processes.  - Familiarity with Amazon Web Services, MongoDB and code deployment tools like Jenkins.   - Comfortable with at least one object-oriented programming language and scripting language.  - Strong Experience in J2EE.  - Good written and communication skills.  Plus:  - Experience with Mobile Application Development on iOS, Android or Windows platform is a plus.  - Experience in any framework (Spring, Struts, Hibernate) is a plus.
