Overview

The position will lead and optimize the end-to-end outbound logistics function, ensuring seamless distribution of finished goods across domestic and international markets. The role demands strong expertise in pharma distribution compliance, cost optimization, channel efficiency, and customer service excellence.

This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving delivery reliability, regulatory adherence, and supply chain agility in a complex, compliance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Outbound Supply Chain Strategy

- Design and implement outbound logistics strategies aligned with business growth and market expansion.

- Drive distribution network optimization (depots, C&F agents, stockists, 3PL partners).

- Build scalable models for multi-location dispatch and last-mile delivery.

2. Distribution & Logistics Management

- Oversee dispatch planning, transportation, and warehousing for finished goods.

- Ensure adherence to FEFO/FIFO norms and temperature-controlled logistics where applicable.

- Manage relationships with transporters, clearing agents, and logistics partners.

- Drive on-time-in-full (OTIF) delivery performance across all channels.

3. Regulatory & Compliance

- Ensure strict compliance with pharma regulations including GDP (Good Distribution Practices).

- Monitor documentation, batch traceability, and audit readiness across all distribution nodes.

- Coordinate with QA and regulatory teams for compliance adherence.

4. Inventory & Demand Fulfilment

- Optimize inventory availability across depots and distributors to prevent stock-outs or overstocking.

- Collaborate with planning and sales teams for demand alignment and dispatch prioritization.

- Monitor slow-moving and near-expiry inventory and implement liquidation strategies.

- Oversee reverse logistics for recalled stock, ensuring segregation, documentation, and movement to designated quarantine locations in compliance with GDP guidelines.

5. Cost Optimization & Efficiency

- Drive logistics cost reduction through route optimization, freight negotiation, and network rationalization.

- Implement technology-driven solutions (TMS, WMS) to improve efficiency and visibility.

- Establish KPIs and dashboards for cost, service levels, and operational performance.

6. Stakeholder Management

- Work closely with Sales, Planning, Manufacturing, QA, and Finance teams.

- Ensure seamless coordination between plant dispatches and market requirements.

- Act as escalation point for critical supply disruptions.

7. Team Leadership

- Lead and develop a high-performing outbound logistics team.

- Drive a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement.

- Manage performance metrics and succession planning within the team.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- OTIF (On-Time-In-Full) delivery performance

- Logistics cost as % of sales

- Inventory turnover and depot efficiency

- Stock-out frequency

- Compliance audit scores

- Transport turnaround time

Qualifications & Experience

- Post Graduation / Graduation (Pharma/Science Graduate preferred) in Pharma Supply Chain / Logistics specialization.

- 22-25 years of experience in supply chain, with significant exposure to outbound logistics in pharma.

- Strong understanding of pharma regulatory requirements (WHO, GDP guidelines preferred, cold chain, compliance norms).

- Proven track record in managing large-scale distribution networks and 3PL partnerships.
