Category Manager - Surgery Care
Who We Are:
India has a healthcare problem. Not a shortage of doctors or medicines - but a shortage of access. Today, hundreds of millions of Indians navigate a fragmented, intimidating system that was never designed with them in mind.
MediBuddy exists to change this.
We are India's largest digital healthcare platform - built on one conviction: that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Every day, we serve 35,000 patients across 22+ specialties in 16 Indian languages, connecting them to consultations, diagnostics, surgeries, and ongoing chronic care - seamlessly, digitally, and at scale.
We are not a booking tool. We are a full-stack care platform that follows the patient from first symptom to last mile of recovery. But we are not done. Half of India still doesn't get the healthcare it deserves. That gap is why we come to work.
What You Will Own:
1. Strategic Scale & P&L Ownership:
- Drive Exponential Growth: Formulate and execute the category playbook to aggressively scale the Surgery Care business from its current volume to a 5X to 10X trajectory.
- Revenue & GMV Management: Own the category's financial health, ensuring strict adherence to business projections and continuous achievement of Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) targets.
- Data-Driven Optimization: Constantly analyze complex business data and health informatics to uncover process inefficiencies, optimize margins, and identify new expansion vectors.
2. Cross-Functional Leadership & Operational Excellence:
- Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as the core orchestrator bridging multiple specialized internal functions - including Sales, Product, Marketing, Network, Operations, and Finance - to execute daily objectives seamlessly.
- Operational Metrics Design: Architect robust business projections and design precise KPIs to measure, monitor, and continuously improve process efficiencies across the entire care lifecycle.
- Full-Stack Synchronization: Ensure that the category flawlessly syncs with MediBuddy's "Care Buddy" system, providing patients with immediate solutions for their medical, financing, insurance, and recovery needs.
3. Demand-Supply Integration & Network Growth:
- Balance Ecosystem Dynamics: Masterfully navigate unstructured demand channels (B2C apps, corporate tie-ups, subscription plans like MediBuddy Gold) and align them with clinical supply.
- Strategic Negotiations: Lead high-value deals and deep-tier negotiations with medical device providers, top-tier surgical experts, and network hospitals to assure best-in-class unit economics.
- B2B & Corporate Collaboration: Partner with the corporate health benefits team to expand surgery care packages across our network of 700+ partner companies and 50 Lakh+ corporate employees.
4. Strategic Reporting, Data Governance & Business Intelligence:
- Establish a Single Source of Truth (SSOT): Design, deploy, and govern comprehensive data dashboards and analytical models that aggregate metrics across the entire surgical lifecycle - from top-of-funnel patient inquiries and "Care Buddy" touchpoints to hospital admissions, claims processing, and post-op recovery.
- Predictive Demand & Supply Forecasting: Leverage data analytics to dynamically forecast surgical demand volumes across specialties, enabling the network team to proactively scale hospital assets and doctor availability in high-growth corridors.
- Executive & Board-Level Reporting: Standardize weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews (WBR/MBR/QBR) for the executive leadership team (CEO, CBO, and CTO), translating complex operational health informatics into clear, actionable strategic narratives regarding GMV growth and P&L efficiency.
- Data-Driven Unit Economics Optimization: Continuously mine transaction, billing, and procurement datasets to uncover hidden instances of revenue leakage, un-billed consumables, or sub-optimal pricing models, converting raw data into margin-expansion initiatives.
What We Are Looking For:
- Experience: 5+ years of total professional experience, with core experience in Business Development, Category Building, or Scaling Business Verticals.
- Stakeholder Management: Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders to ensure high-performance cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrable experience in building categories from "zero to one" or scaling them rapidly in hyper-growth startups, healthtech ecosystems, or top-tier digital marketplaces.
- Analytical Capabilities: Extremely data-driven, result-oriented, and comfortable making decisions using data-backed frameworks.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional leadership skills, problem-solving capabilities, strong negotiation skills, and deal-closing abilities.
- Patient-First Mindset: Ability to think out of the box to cultivate extreme value for an excellent patient journey.
Character Profile:
- The "Zero-to-One" Builder (Entrepreneurial Grit) - This role is not for a slow-moving, maintenance-focused administrator. It requires someone who thrives in highly ambiguous, fast-paced, and unstructured environments without a playbook.
- The Analytical Strategist (Data-Obsessed) - At its core, category management is a numbers game. You make decisions using hard data, not intuition. You do not confuse activity with progress. Measure what matters, ignore what doesn't.
- The "Human Experience" Architect (Service Quality Obsessive) - You understand that the category involves patients undergoing stressful life events. You treat service design not just as a transaction, but as a critical care journey.
- The Relationship & Network Diplomat (Ecosystem Orchestrator) - You are comfortable communicating with diverse stakeholders - from junior to senior and approach negotiations with not as zero-sum cost-cutting exercises, but as relationship-building opportunities that unlock long-term capacity, preferred pricing, and priority patient scheduling.
