About the Role:

The Head of Publishing will lead the end-to-end publishing function, driving content strategy, editorial excellence, and business growth across formats and platforms. This role combines creative leadership with strong commercial acumen, ensuring the delivery of high-quality content while expanding audience reach and revenue streams.

The ideal candidate will oversee editorial, production, and marketing teams, scale the publishing portfolio, and lead innovation across digital and multimedia formats.

Responsibilities:

Content Strategy & Leadership:

- Define and execute the overall publishing and content strategy aligned with business objectives

- Lead editorial direction across formats including digital, print, and multimedia

- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, engaging, and impactful content

Team Leadership & Management:

- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams across editorial, production, and marketing

- Build a high-performance, collaborative, and accountable team culture

- Hire, train, and develop talent within the publishing function

Portfolio Growth & Innovation:

- Drive expansion of the publishing portfolio across new categories, formats, and audiences

- Identify market trends and opportunities for new content initiatives

- Lead innovation in emerging formats such as video, podcasts, and digital-first content

Production & Operations:

- Oversee the end-to-end content production lifecycle

- Ensure timely delivery, quality control, and cost efficiency

- Streamline workflows and optimize operational processes

Revenue & Business Management:

- Own and manage the P&L for the publishing function

- Develop and execute monetization strategies across subscriptions, partnerships, ads, and licensing

- Optimize budgets and drive revenue growth

Partnerships & Stakeholder Management:

- Lead contract negotiations with authors, agencies, and external partners

- Build strategic partnerships to enhance distribution and audience reach

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure cross-functional alignment

Digital Transformation & Analytics:

- Drive adoption of new publishing technologies and digital platforms

- Leverage data and analytics to optimize content performance and audience engagement

- Strengthen online presence, discoverability, and digital growth

Requirements:

- 8- 10+ years of experience in publishing, content, or media

- Proven track record of leading editorial and content teams

- Strong understanding of digital publishing, content marketing, and distribution channels

- Experience managing budgets and driving revenue growth

- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Skills:

- Experience in EdTech, media, or publishing environments

- Familiarity with SEO, analytics tools, and performance tracking metrics

- Strong network within the publishing and media ecosystem
