About the role:
Masters' Union is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Events to lead the strategy, planning, and execution of high-impact events that enhance student engagement, industry interaction, and institutional brand presence. This role will be responsible for conceptualising and delivering exceptional experiences across academic, industry, and community events while ensuring operational excellence and strategic alignment with Masters' Union's vision.
The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership capabilities, operational rigor, and creative vision to design events that reflect Masters' Union's premium and industry-immersive learning ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
1. Events Strategy & Planning:
- Develop and manage the annual events roadmap, aligned with academic calendars, industry partnerships, and student engagement objectives.
- Conceptualise and deliver high-impact events, including conclaves, CXO sessions, hackathons, incubator showcases, international immersions, conferences, and community engagement initiatives.
- Introduce innovative event formats and experiential concepts to ensure memorable and high-value experiences for students, speakers, and partners.
2. Operations & Execution Leadership:
- Lead all operational aspects of events including logistics, venue management, vendor coordination, AV setups, travel, hospitality, and compliance.
- Establish and implement event SOPs, operational checklists, and quality standards to ensure smooth and consistent execution.
- Manage on-ground execution and troubleshoot operational challenges to ensure seamless event delivery.
3. Team & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary events team, including event managers, executives, operations staff, and student ambassadors.
- Collaborate closely with academic teams, admissions, corporate relations, marketing, and program teams to ensure end-to-end alignment.
- Act as the primary liaison for industry leaders, speakers, and partner organisations participating in Masters' Union events.
4. Vendor, Budget & Resource Management:
- Oversee vendor identification, negotiation, and contract management for event production, logistics, merchandise, decor, and hospitality services.
- Own and manage the events budget, ensuring cost efficiency without compromising on quality or experience.
- Forecast resource requirements and optimise team, vendor, and infrastructure utilisation across events.
5. Experience Design & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all events reflect Masters' Union's premium brand standards and industry-driven ethos.
- Implement feedback systems, event analytics, and ROI assessment to continuously improve event impact.
- Leverage technology platforms for registrations, event automation, attendee engagement, and data tracking.
6. Compliance, Risk & Governance:
- Ensure all events comply with institutional policies, safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and risk-management practices.
- Maintain detailed event documentation, approvals, and post-event reporting for governance and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 8-12+ years of experience in events management, experiential marketing, or large-scale program operations.
- Proven experience managing large-scale conferences, corporate events, or university-led industry events.
- Strong leadership, vendor management, and operational planning skills.
- Ability to manage multiple high-impact events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
