Role Overview
The Infrastructure Lead is responsible for overseeing the management, stability, and strategic direction of Core Banking infrastructure and database support services. This role ensures the integrity, availability, security, and scalability of the banks critical IT infrastructure that supports core banking functions, in close coordination with Mashreqs Group Infrastructure team.
The position requires strong leadership across database and infrastructure operations, deep technical expertise in Oracle databases and enterprise hardware platforms, and the ability to align infrastructure services with business and regulatory objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Database Operations
- Lead and manage core banking infrastructure and database support services, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Oversee deployment, administration, and fine-tuning of Oracle Databases on Exadata and IBM hardware platforms.
- Ensure system stability, uptime, and performance in line with agreed SLAs.
- Lead operating system and database platform support across production and non-production environments.
Strategy & Architecture
- Develop and implement strategies for database management, data security, resilience, and infrastructure support.
- Oversee the design and implementation of new database and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and future-ready.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor database and infrastructure support teams, driving service excellence and operational maturity.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational discipline.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across SDLC, operations, and support functions.
Governance, Compliance & Risk
- Ensure adherence to audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements applicable to banking environments.
- Maintain systems in compliance with internal policies, security standards, and regulatory guidelines.
- Support audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with key business and technology stakeholders to align infrastructure services with business objectives.
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Coordinate closely with Mashreq Group Infrastructure for alignment, governance, and standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12 to 15 years of experience in Infrastructure Technology and SDLC, with:
- 10+ years in Database Management and Infrastructure Operations
Extensive hands-on experience with:
- Oracle Database Administration
- Exadata platforms
- IBM Hardware
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure security and support in enterprise / banking environments.
- Proven experience managing complex, mission-critical IT systems.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure projects successfully.
Education
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
