Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Audit Leadership
- Provide leadership in the development, planning, and implementation of strategic audit priorities within the assigned audit universe.
- Operate independently in managing and executing audits in specialized areas across the bank, ensuring alignment with the overall audit plan and organizational objectives.
- Contribute to the formulation and continuous enhancement of the banks audit strategy, methodologies, and frameworks.
2. Risk Identification and Management
- Identify, assess, and evaluate composite operational and financial risks across multiple business processes and functions.
- Recommend methodological and process improvements to strengthen risk management and control effectiveness.
- Support the adoption of best-in-class risk quantification and monitoring techniques to enhance the banks operational resilience.
- Drive proactive identification of emerging risks and provide forward-looking insights to senior management.
3. Audit Execution and Review
- Lead and participate in audit engagements, investigations, and special reviews in line with defined audit priorities, scope, and standards.
- Ensure end-to-end evaluation of operational, financial, and compliance risks, and assess the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Develop detailed audit work programs, perform risk-based testing, and ensure documentation meets professional standards.
- Review audit findings and working papers for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Internal Audit quality benchmarks.
- Deliver clear, concise, and well-documented audit reports highlighting prioritized risks, root causes, and actionable recommendations.
4. Advisory and Consultancy Support
- Provide value-added advisory support to business units on process reengineering, product development, and control design.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless implementation of process improvements and risk mitigation measures.
- Participate in pre-implementation reviews of new systems, products, and processes to ensure appropriate controls are embedded from inception.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and control awareness across the bank.
5. Reporting and Communication
- Present audit findings, recommendations, and risk trends to senior management and Audit Committee as required.
- Ensure timely issuance of audit reports with accurate risk prioritization and actionable insights.
- Monitor the status of audit issues and follow-up on the implementation of agreed corrective actions.
- Build strong working relationships with business, operations, and risk teams while maintaining professional independence.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CA, CISA, or CRMA preferred.
- 10-12 years of experience in internal audit, risk management, or financial control functions within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, risk management frameworks, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
- Expertise in identifying and quantifying operational and financial risks and recommending process improvements.
- Proven ability to lead multiple, complex audits simultaneously and deliver results within deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills with the ability to convey complex issues succinctly to senior management.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools, audit management software, and MS Office suite.
