Key Responsibilities

Credit Underwriting and Sanction


- Evaluate and approve Secured Business Loan (SBL) proposals, with a primary focus on Loan Against Property (LAP), ensuring adherence to established credit policies and risk parameters.

- Conduct thorough Personal Discussions (PDs) with applicants and perform site visits (or oversee the verification process) to accurately assess business viability, collateral value, and repayment capacity.

- Ensure rigorous credit policy adherence across all proposals processed within the branch and region.

Portfolio Management and Quality


- Monitor underwriting quality across the region, identifying trends and proactively implementing corrective actions to mitigate risk.

- Track regional delinquency trends (e.g., NPA, write-offs) and implement strategies in coordination with collections to maintain superior portfolio health and quality.

- Provide detailed portfolio insights and performance analysis through accurate MIS (Management Information System) reporting to senior management.

Leadership and Process Management


- Guide, mentor, and train branch credit teams on best practices for financial analysis, collateral evaluation, and robust credit assessment.

- Ensure compliance with defined Turnaround Times (TAT) for credit decisions while maintaining underwriting quality standards.

- Liaise effectively with Sales, Operations, and Legal teams to streamline the end-to-end loan journey, from application submission to legal vetting and seamless disbursement.

Compliance and Audit


- Ensure strict adherence to all internal and external audit and compliance standards (RBI guidelines, legal requirements).

- Maintain meticulous records and documentation to ensure audit readiness at all times.

Requirements and Qualifications

Educational Background: Postgraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related field is mandatory.

Professional Experience: 4 to 6 years of focused experience in credit underwriting, risk assessment, and sanctioning SBL/LAP products within a reputed NBFC or BFSI institution.

Domain Expertise: Deep understanding of property valuation, legal aspects of collateral, business financial analysis, and retail/SME credit scoring models.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in MS Office Suite (especially Excel for data analysis and reporting) and experienced in utilizing core credit systems (LOS, LMS).

Core Competencies:

- Strong analytical and risk assessment skills with a keen eye for detail and identifying hidden risks.

- Exceptional leadership and mentoring skills to build and manage a high-performing credit team.

- Excellent communication and consulting skills for internal stakeholder management and external customer interactions.
