Position Title: Manager /Sr Manager - Capex GST

Purpose of the Role :

To manage GST compliance, advisory, and tax optimization for capital expenditure projects, plant expansion, modernization initiatives, and large-scale procurement within an integrated steel manufacturing facility. The role ensures maximum eligible ITC, strong compliance, and seamless coordination with engineering, procurement, and finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Capex Taxation & Project Support:

- Provide GST advisory for large Capex projects including plant expansion, rolling mills, coke ovens, blast furnace upgrades, utilities, and infrastructure projects.

- Evaluate ITC eligibility on machinery, spares, civil work, EPC contracts, erection & commissioning services.

- Review project structures, contract terms, and tax clauses for GST impact.

- Support project and engineering teams on tax implications during project planning and execution.

Procurement & Contract Review:

- Review high-value Purchase Orders and Work Orders for correct GST structure.

- Validate HSN/SAC classification for capital equipment, steel plant machinery, fabrication work, and maintenance services.

- Ensure accurate tax determination for interstate procurement, imports, and job work transactions.

- Work with Capex procurement teams to ensure tax-efficient sourcing models.

Invoice & Compliance Management:

- Review vendor invoices and supporting documents for ITC eligibility.

- Ensure compliance with E-invoice and E-waybill provisions for large-value equipment movement.

- Coordinate with Accounts Payable for tax adjustments, vendor recovery, and corrections.

- Support monthly GST return filings, reconciliations, and audit documentation for Capex transactions.

Vendor Compliance & Risk Control:

- Monitor GST compliance of EPC contractors, fabrication vendors, and engineering service providers.

- Identify tax risks in large engineering contracts and recommend corrective action.

- Manage GST notices, departmental queries, and litigation related to plant Capex.
