
Job Description :
Role & Responsibilities :
- Manage and review preparation of Form 1041 (Trusts & Estates) along with related schedules (K-1s, Grantor Trust statements, etc.).
- Handle a portfolio of US tax engagements including individual (1040), partnership (1065), and corporate (1120/1120S) returns as applicable, with primary focus on trust and estate taxation.
- Review complex fiduciary income tax returns and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely filing.
- Research and apply US tax laws, IRS regulations, and state-specific tax requirements related to trusts and estates.
- Coordinate with US-based engagement teams/partners to understand client requirements and deliverables.
- Manage, mentor, and train a team of tax preparers/associates; review their work and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality control standards and firm deadlines.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices for efficiency.
- Stay updated on changes in US tax legislation affecting fiduciary, estate, and trust taxation.
- Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and workflow allocation.
Preferred Candidate Profile :
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CA/CPA/EA preferred).
- 6+ years of experience in US taxation, with substantial hands-on experience in Form 1041 preparation and review.
- Strong working knowledge of fiduciary accounting income, distributable net income (DNI), and trust/estate tax concepts.
- Experience with tax software such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem, UltraTax, or similar.
- Prior experience managing or reviewing work of a team.
- Strong analytical, communication, and client-handling skills.
- Ability to work in US shift hours / overlap with US time zones as required.
- Prior experience working with a US-based CPA firm or Big 4/mid-size accounting firm preferred.
Preferred Qualifications :
- EA (Enrolled Agent) or CPA certification.
- Experience with related fiduciary forms (Form 706, state trust returns).
- Exposure to review of 1040/1065/1120 returns in addition to 1041.
