Federal Manager Job Description: US Tax - Alternative Investments

This role is for a Federal Manager specializing in US Partnership Tax Compliance (Form 1065) for Alternative Investment Funds such as hedge funds, private equity, fund of funds, and credit funds. The position is available in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Role Overview:

The Federal Manager will be responsible for managing the US Federal tax compliance for partnerships and pass-through entities. This involves guiding the preparation and review of complex federal and state tax returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws, and providing strategic insights to clients.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage US Federal tax compliance for partnerships.

- Guide the preparation and review of complex federal and state income tax returns, specifically Form 1065 for hedge funds, private equity funds, fund of funds, and credit funds.

- Ensure timely filing of all federal and state tax returns.

- Review tax workpapers, perform inside/outside basis computations, Section 704(c) and 743(b) computations, and process Schedule K-1.

- Manage engagement workflow, timelines, and resources, and oversee project budgets.

- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, advising on complex tax planning and structuring opportunities.

- Mentor, train, and develop junior team members, conducting independent tax research when necessary.

- Stay updated on changes in US tax legislation and advise on their impact on operations and clients.

Qualifications & Skills:

- 7 to 12 years of experience in US Federal tax compliance, with specific knowledge of partnerships and Form 1065.

- Mandatory certification: Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

- Educational background: Any UG/PG degree from a commerce background.

- Proficiency in handling alternative investment structures, including hedge funds, private equity, fund of funds, and credit funds.

- Strong knowledge of US tax law/rules and implications, especially for pass-through entities.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

- Excellent communication skills and ability to build client relationships.

Locations: Bengaluru (BLR), Hyderabad (HYD), or Kolkata (KOL).
