
Job Description:
The Manager - Underwriting and Reinsurance - Life Reinsurance Operations is responsible for overseeing end-to-end life reinsurance operations, including treaty administration, premium and claims computation, reporting, reconciliations, provisioning, stakeholder management, and operational excellence.
The role ensures accurate and timely delivery of reinsurance transactions, statutory and management reporting, account settlements, and effective coordination with reinsurers and internal stakeholders.
The incumbent will also be responsible for managing the ReNova reinsurance administration system, supporting new treaty implementations, performing UAT and data validation, and driving process improvements while ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibility Areas:
- Reinsurance Treaty setup and UAT in ReNova application
- Monthly Premium/Claims computation using ReNova
- Reinsurance provisions and monthly computations
- Liaison with internal departments i.e. Actuaries, claims, finance, U/W and IT
- Liaison with the Reinsurers and escalation handling
- Testing of new setups and review of data and good eye on numbers
- Hands-on experience with ReNova or similar reinsurance administration systems
- Experience in stakeholder management, reconciliations, UAT, and process improvement initiatives
Key Performance Indicators:
Financial:
- Closure reinsurance settlement as per agreed timelines with utmost accuracy.
Customer:
- Act as the primary liaison with reinsurers, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Actuarial, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Operations, and IT teams to ensure seamless execution of reinsurance processes.
- Handle reinsurer queries, discrepancies, settlements, and escalations within agreed timelines.
- Ensure timely delivery of data, reports, invoices, and account balances to reinsurers.
Process and Quality Management:
- Manage treaty setup, configuration, maintenance, and enhancements in the ReNova application.
- Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for treaty changes, system enhancements, and new business implementations.
- Review data quality, reconciliations, and system outputs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure high-quality transaction processing with minimal errors and adherence to defined SLAs.
- Perform detailed reviews of premium, claims, financial, and operational data with a strong focus on accuracy and controls.
- Identify process improvement and automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Support audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations and action items.
- Manage day-to-day life reinsurance operations across individual and group business portfolios.
- Oversee monthly reinsurance premium, claims, reserve, and provision computations using ReNova.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reinsurance reports.
- Manage reinsurance account settlements, reconciliations, and outstanding balances.

Authority to:
- Close the business activities as SLA and within TAT.
- Management and Leadership of Regulatory, Compliance and Operational Risk. Report any operational risk or operational risk loss to the line manager immediately (who is required to timely report to Operational Risk Coordinator) if the jobholder becomes aware of emerging or inadequately controlled operational risk or identify an operational risk loss.
- Observation of Internal Controls. Maintain and observe CHL internal control standards, implement and observe Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
